๐The Oregon Health Authority has officially declared a measles outbreak in Oregon. Measles is the most contagious infectious disease- respiratory droplets from an infected person can stay in the air for up to 2 hours after they have left, and can infect up to 90% of unprotected people in close contact ๐ท
PANW is closely monitoring the outbreak and taking precautions to make sure all our patients are cared for safely. The MMR vaccine, a 2-dose series, is the best way to protect your family from measles. We strongly encourage patients to schedule an appointment if they have not received their MMR vaccine. It is routinely given in our office at 12-month and 24-month well checks ๐ฉบ. Vaccine records can be checked through the Patient Portal.
๐ฑPatients who have been exposed or who have symptoms of measles should call our office to speak with a triage nurse before coming into the office to avoid exposing other patients.
