Wellness Wednesday Time!

The flowers beginning to bloom and nature is coming alive. Spring's warmer temps and longer days are the perfect excuse to take your movement outdoors.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it - Try taking a morning or sunset walk. Maybe you intentionally focus on engaging your senses - notice the new buds on the trees, the feeling of the breeze, the smell of cut grass, the sound of the birds returning home. Walking can also be like meditation in movement.

We hope you enjoy this and let us know your favorite place to take your morning or sunset walks!! We might just see you there.

Be well! πŸ’š

A theme as of late…
Slow, regulate… first step
Validate and redirect… second step
Process and teach through listening and inquiry… third step

β€œWhen a child is upset, connecting with their emotional state first is essential before trying to redirect their behavior.”
(The Whole-Brain Child, 2011, p. 23)

This week at Rosemont Wellness Center we brought back the "Practitioner Lunch" that we held monthly pre-pandemic.It was an opportunity for all providers at RWC to share space, introduce or reintroduce themselves and be in community. It was really lovely to bring this practice back.

We have amazing practitioners at our center. Here is our roll call:
πŸ’š Six Branches Family Acupuncture ()
πŸ’š Koru Physical Therapy and Wellness (allisonpoole_koru)
πŸ’š Face First Therapeutic Skincare
πŸ’š Adrienne McAuley, PT, DPT, MEd
πŸ’š Elizabeth Ann Miles, LCSW ()
πŸ’š White Pine Behavioral Health
πŸ’š Sri Devi Healing Arts ()
πŸ’š Rusty Groh, GCFP
πŸ’š Leah Spinard, LMT
πŸ’š Yoga teachers: Alex Argo, Aleksandra Townsend and Melissa Urey (Sri Devi)

If you would like to learn more about all of our practitioners, please visit www.rosemontwellness.com and visit each practice's page.

A throw back to my first private practice office in Portland. Now settled into Rosemont Wellness Center, I occasionally get the chance to work with clients I worked with when they were very young, helping them find tools to navigate young adulthood and college life. People come and go, and many clients return during new life challenges. In this moment, I have reflected on my professional life and express gratitude to my clients. Gratitude is the theme of the season, though it is always helpful to slow down, reflect, and give thanks.

A much appreciated post by RWC. β™₯️

Do you know RWC's Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Elizabeth Ann Miles?

You may know her professionally or as George and Laila's mom. We wanted to give you a glimpse of who Elizabeth is and what fuels all of her (BIG) energy (beside TONS of coffee β˜•).

Elizabeth is a native Mainer, originating from Gardiner, ME. Since leaving the state, at age 18, she has visited nearly every state and has travelled all over the world. She chooses to live near the ocean, residing in San Diego and Boston, before moving to Portland. She loves to tumble around in the waves of the Maine coast. "I feel alive when the cold water hits my skin, it is an awesome rush!"🌊

She finds joy in dancing to live music and is quite comfortable standing front and center at large concerts, squished against the barrier at the stage. Locally, Elizabeth can be found at many music events in the community, enjoying time with her kids.

Elizabeth is a hilarious storyteller though, be warned, her short stories are other's long stories! She recently said, "I have the gift and curse of the Blarney". However, when given the opportunity to kiss the Blarney Stone while visiting Ireland, she passed.

Regarding her career choice, she shared, "At a young age, I knew I wanted to be a therapist." Upon leaving high school, she sought an education in Art Therapy. Eventually, life events and years as a grassroots activism for social and economic justice, she was drawn into clinical social work.

This is a glimpse of the Elizabeth we adore. Say "hello" next time you stop into Rosemont Wellness Center!
