(Online) Support and Discussion Group for Autistic Adults, ages 18+
Thursday Oct 30, 2025 ⋅ 5:30pm – 7pm (Pacific Time - Los Angeles)
Meets online every Thursday, from 5:30pm - 7:00pm. We would like to hold space for Autistic adults in Oregon who want to meet and talk with other adults about life on the spectrum. We will be reviewing books, talking about neurodiversity, and openly talking about life on the spectrum in general.
The group is facilitated by Lisa Sawyer, an Autistic adult and a peer. She is an active volunteer in her community, worked many years in homeless services, and peer support for adults. We strive to foster connection, have open dialogue in all areas that challenge and support us, making this a shared journey-never a solo one, in a safe and welcoming community.

GET READY to "Fall Back" 1 hour on Sunday, Nov 2nd!
When is this going to happen? Mark your calendar for Sunday, November 2nd, 2025 at 2:00 AM.
At that time, we are going to set our clocks back an hour to 1:00 AM (“fall back” in fall). Yay for an extra hour of sleep!
We will remain in Standard Time until Sunday, March 8, 2026, when we will spring forward again into a new round of Daylight Saving Time.
How to Make the Adjustment Easier
Explain what Daylight Saving Time is and why it exists if the concept confuses or annoys your Autistic child. Explain its history if they are not familiar with it. Tell them it is perfectly okay to find it illogical, but explain that they have to keep up with the time changes so they do not disrupt school and appointments.
Mark it on the calendar. Missing the time change or only realizing it is happening the day of can be destabilizing, and even lead to a meltdown.
Consider making a gradual adjustment. For some Autistic persons, making the leap to standard time is easiest if it happens all at once, like ripping off a Band-Aid. But for others, the opposite is true. For those children and adults, it might be easier to start going to bed a little bit later each night for a week or so before the change.
Block out morning sun. If the sun rising an hour earlier in the day is causing you or your Autistic loved one to miss out on crucial sleep in the mornings, try using blackout curtains.
Make the most of the extra hour. The plus side of switching back to Standard Time is that we all get an extra hour of time! Use this extra hour however you’d like.
We hope the transition back to Standard time is as easy as possible for you and your loved ones.
