Classical Pearls

Classical Pearls Classical Pearls Herbal Formulas™ are unique Chinese herbal formulations designed for the treatmen

OUR APPROACH IS SIMPLE

We manage the sourcing, production and formulation of the highest quality ingredients into unique and potent formulations based on the classical medical texts, and fine-tuned to treat modern patients suffering from the complex diseases of our times. Herbal medicine was once the only modality to cure serious diseases. Today, the intricate alchemical principles and the experience based approach of traditional herbal science has become overshadowed by laboratory parameters—often to the detriment of clinical results. It is the mission of Classical Pearls to launch a return to the classical and clinic-based roots of Chinese herbal medicine. A RETURN TO THE CLINICAL POWER OF OUR ROOTS

Classical Pearls is proud to be part of an international movement that seeks to honor and restore the classical origins of Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine is a highly sophisticated science and deeply spiritual art form. We believe in trusting what history has taught us – that Chinese herbal formulation is based on simple foundational principles that are often ignored or misunderstood in the construct of modern TCM education. With our formulas and the core educational concepts behind them, our goal is to preserve the true clinical power and efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine. OUR FORMULAS HAVE EVOLVED FROM CLASSICAL MEDICAL TEXTS

Each of our remedies incorporates principles of classical formula design synthesized from the ancient texts of Oriental medicine and a variety of classical lineage approaches. Based on over two decades of clinical experience, tightly structured classical formulas have been combined and fine-tuned to the modern diseases of our time. It is our sincere hope that the study and use of the Classical Pearls series of products can help Oriental medicine practitioners increase their clinical efficacy and gain a better understanding of the time-honored principles of alchemical wisdom that are gradually being forgotten.

Its and this week were highlighting Ginkgo pearls 🌿

Ginkgo Pearls is modeled on the classical formula Wuzhuyu Tang (Evodia Decoction), a potent jueyin (Liver, Pericardium) warming remedy from Zhang Zhongjing’s 3rd-century Shanghan lun. It also enters the yangming (Stomach, Large Intestine) systems. In classical thought, jueyin lifts what must rise, while yangming descends what must fall; together they govern head microcirculation and brain chemistry. In the pathological state addressed by Wuzhuyu Tang, both Liver and Stomach are cold and depleted—often from extreme lifestyle choices such as long-term drug or pharmaceutical use—and fail to perform their roles.

This allows foamy substances to rise and obstruct the Heart or***ce, leading to poor brain circulation and disordered chemistry. Patients typically appear ashen and in great distress. Because of its brain focus, Ginkgo Pearls is a companion to Evergreen Pearls, but used more briefly and for acute or intense symptoms. With added herbs, it is especially suited for stomach-related brain disorders, including chemistry issues rooted in Pericardium/Stomach axis pathology.

🌱 Sourcing Dangshen 🌱
Known as the “poor man’s ginseng,” Dangshen (Codonopsis pilosula, 党参) is a beloved root in Chinese medicine. Traditionally cultivated in the mountainous regions of northern and western China—especially Gansu (Min County), Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Sichuan—this gentle tonic herb is valued for:

✨ Supporting Qi (vital energy)
✨ Strengthening digestion & appetite
✨ Nourishing the Lungs and Spleen
✨ Promoting endurance and resilience

Unlike ginseng, Dangshen offers a milder yet steady boost, making it perfect for daily use and long-term support. Its earthy sweetness reflects its role in replenishing and harmonizing the body.

Its and this week were highlighting Ox Bone Pearls 🦴

Ox Bone Pearls is a Daoist trauma remedy specifically designed for moving blood and reducing stagnation. The special characteristic of this complex formula, in comparison to other trauma remedies such as Yunnan Baiyao (White Medicine from Yunnan), is the prominent use of ox bone and crab shell. In combination with other herbs, these ingredients can dramatically stimulate the mineralization and uptake of bone. Therefore, Ox Bone Pearls can also be used for bone demineralization issues.

Mu Xiang (木香, Saussurea costus) is a classical herb valued for its ability to regulate Qi and ease digestive discomfort. In Chinese medicine, it is often used to:

🌱Support the movement of Qi in the middle burner
🌱Relieve abdominal distention, bloating, and pain
🌱Enhance the digestion and assimilation of food and herbs
🌱Harmonize formulas by reducing cloying effects of rich medicinals

By guiding Qi and promoting digestive harmony, Mu Xiang plays an essential role in many traditional formulas. 🌿

To further maximize the therapeutic effectiveness of our formulas, we collaborate with Dr. Hu Changjiang, a renowned professor and researcher of paozhi techniques for nearly four decades. A close friend of Heiner Fruehaufsince 1990, Dr. Hu has recently been recognized by the Chinese government as the official lineage holder of China’s Southwest school of herbal processing modalities.

Through our commitment to traditional expertise and time-honored methods, Classical Pearls is helping to preserve and restore the lost art of paozhi, ensuring its benefits continue to enrich Chinese herbal medicine for generations to come.
