Jewish Family & Child Service - Portland, Oregon Jewish Family & Child Service (JFCS) provides social services that improve the lives of adults, families, and children in the Jewish and general communities.

Jewish Family & Child Service (JFCS) has assisted Portland-area residents for 70 years. We help marginalized people of all faiths and backgrounds realize their full potential, and serve diverse communities that have evolving needs. In particular, JFCS excels at helping vulnerable seniors and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live with dignity and autonomy. JFCS offers a wide

range of human services including individual, couple, family, and group counseling, services for seniors and people with disabilities, emergency assistance and referrals during time of crisis, services for immigrant and refugees and Holocaust survivors. All our services are offered without regard to age, race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.

JFCS is excited to welcome two new mental health clinicians to our counseling team! Meet April and Adrien!

April Rosenberg, MSW, LCSW, specializes in Seniors, Young Adults, ACOA, Chronic Anxiety and Depression, PTSD, and Group Therapy.

Adrien Wolmark, PhD, LCSW, specializes in affirming care for LGBTQIA+ communities; trauma including religious and spiritual challenges; Identity development; Adults, teens, couples and relationship therapy.

JFCS’ Counseling program provides compassionate, person-centered, trauma-informed mental health services to adults, children, teens, couples and families facing life’s challenges. Through this program, we provide compassionate, personalized guidance to help people navigate a wide range of needs, including food assistance, rental and utility support, emergency aid, housing referrals, and more. If you are struggling with life challenges and are in need of a spiritual connection during difficult times, JFCS’ Community Chaplain can provide spiritual guidance and care. Rabbi Sarah Rensin serves the spiritual care and wellness needs of Jews throughout the Greater Portland area who are outside a traditional synagogue setting. She’s available to help with home visits, end-of-life support, life cycle events and more.

With great appreciation, we thank our outgoing board members for their outstanding dedication and leadership.

Larry Holzman joined the board in 2016 and served as Board President from July 2019 to June 2023. His vision and determination led the way for a $500,000 fundraising campaign to support JFCS’s Holocaust Survivor Services program — a lasting impact on our community.

Eric Kodesch brought his thoughtful leadership to the board starting in 2018, contributing his time and insight as a member of both the Holocaust Survivor Advisory Committee and the Finance Committee.

Kim Rosenberg joined the board in 2022 and served on the Finance Committee, offering her guidance and expertise in support of our mission.

On July 4, a significant piece of legislation was signed into law that may bring new and urgent challenges to our Portland community and the essential services JFCS provides. While many of the changes may not take full effect until after the 2026 mid-term elections, we are already preparing for the potential impact. In response to these changes, our behavioral health team will be offering spaces for community connection. We will also be providing ways to help you process the potential impact of the legislation.
