Jewish Family & Child Service - Portland, Oregon Jewish Family & Child Service (JFCS) provides social services that improve the lives of adults, families, and children in the Jewish and general communities.

Jewish Family & Child Service (JFCS) has assisted Portland-area residents for 70 years. We help marginalized people of all faiths and backgrounds realize their full potential, and serve diverse communities that have evolving needs. In particular, JFCS excels at helping vulnerable seniors and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live with dignity and autonomy. JFCS offers a wide range of human services including individual, couple, family, and group counseling, services for seniors and people with disabilities, emergency assistance and referrals during time of crisis, services for immigrant and refugees and Holocaust survivors. All our services are offered without regard to age, race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.

A huge thank-you to our incredible vendors who helped make Schmoozapalooza truly sparkle! Stoller Vineyards — for donating wonderful wine that set the mood; Flash Photo Booth — where Kyle captured the smiles and joy; ProDJs — with Rich keeping the music flowing; Brynna from Yoga and Dance Therapeutics leading everyone onto the dance floor and Century Catering — for keeping us fueled with delicious refreshments. Join us for a crafty afternoon for a cause! Help make Thanksgiving cards for community members who need some extra joy this season. Your completed cards will go into the Thanksgiving Meal Boxes that get delivered to those in around Greater Portland who need of a holiday meal. Card making materials will be provided, but feel free to bring any additional items you like to work with.

Thank you to everyone who joined JFCS and the MJCC for our third annual Schmoozapalooza Senior Prom! More than 125 community members gathered at the MJCC for an afternoon filled with music, laughter, and connection. The atmosphere was festive and full of joy—from dancing to the DJ’s tunes and striking poses in the ever-popular photo booth to enjoying delicious refreshments and making new friends. It was a wonderful afternoon of community, connection, and pure joy!

It’s turkey time at JFCS again! You can help more than 800 community members secure a hearty and nourishing Thanksgiving meal, a great lead-in to a special holiday season -- for them, for you. Your generous donation goes toward the following in support of both JFCS' Thanksgiving Food Box and Family-to-Family programs:
- Food box fixings, such as a turkey, potatoes, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.
- Gift cards to supplement holiday food boxes with clients' personal favorites.

JFCS celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Day , honoring the cultures and histories of the Native American people. JFCS acknowledges that its office in the Portland Metro area rests on the traditional village sites of the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and may other tribes.

We encourage all to take time today to learn about and appreciate the deep and important history of Indigenous people in Portland, Oregon, and across America.
