I’m a homeschooler
I’m a curriculum writer

With a passion for philosophy, art, literature and free will, I committed to homeschooling my kiddos from day one.

It has been such a magical and rewarding journey this far. I’m amazed at all we have learned together and how we have grown.

Reading, writing and creating together has given us the closest relationships. I feel so grateful that we have flung ourselves into this wholeheartedly on the easy days and the challenging ones.

While I’ve written curriculum for adults, my own kiddos, and for I am now considering packaging the curriculum I’ve written for parents and homeschoolers to use for their kiddos.

What a wild ride?! I’ve toyed with this idea in the past and waves of second guessing and self doubt held me back.

My website has an entire learning platform built in and this is something I feel passionately about. So, here we go!

Initial roll out will be for kiddos 8-14. As I get rolling, I’ll circle back around to the earlier elementary kiddos and the tots.

The aim is to raise levels of awareness. Get to know your mind and how it works. Befriend your mind. Get to know your mind’s potential.

Why?

So that the individual will gain an understanding of the depth of themselves.

The sutras are a road map, meant to be traveled and experienced. Mere study of the yoga sutras without the practice and experience of them is like studying a map and encyclopedia of Italy without knowing the taste of pistachio gelato and Italian espresso!

Using the map and the experiences give you a deeper under of how you fit into your own life, your gifts, and purpose here.

Getting synced with your subtle energy body in presence is a magically rhythmic practice. It starts with peeling away extra auditory and visual stimulation.

This is where trust swirls again and you hear the whispers of your heart. This is where you’re safe and free. Dropping back into the sacred self.

Wellness is physical, mental, energetic, emotional, and community. ❤️

I used to curate the perfect playlist for every class.

The rise and fall of emotion.
The timed arc.
The chosen inspiration of chaos to fill the silence.

Then I’d practice to it, ensuring the rhythm was right for the movement like choreography.

Somewhere along the way, I realized…

✨ The music was doing the work for me and everyone else.
✨ The music masked what was rising naturally and squashed my inner knowing.
✨ It was a lovely distraction, but still a distraction.

Removing the playlists meant removing the performance from healing.

Removing playlists from classes meant stripping away the layers that made it “palatable” and instead sitting with what was raw, unfiltered, and real.

And ceasing to naively appropriate a practice that innately grows, heals, and helps.

Now, in the silence…
Breath becomes the soundtrack.
Body becomes the teacher.
The moment becomes sacred again.

This is yoga.
As it always should have been.

If you’re craving stillness, realness, and nervous system support that doesn’t bypass the truth you’re not alone.

If you’re “tired” of the practice or not that into it anymore, if you’re over this wellness culture and believe that the yoga doesn’t work… it’s likely because you’ve stayed in the shallow end of the pool and it’s time to go deeper. In silence. And peel away another layer of attachment.

“WAIT! No music?!”

Hey. 👋 I’m Lauren Danner. I teach yoga classes, yup even flow classes with no music.

I teach yoga the way it was always meant to be: quiet, bold, uncomfortable, and healing.

I don’t play music in my yoga classes because the real rhythm is inside you and you’ve marched to the beat of someone else’s tune for long enough.

You’re worth hearing, you’re worth listening to, and you’re worth a practice that allows your WHOLE self to shine. Not just a playlist.

So, for the next 30 days I’ll be sharing something that has been on my heart for quite awhile: WHY I stopped playing music in my yoga classes after 20 years, what it has taught me, how it has deepened my practice and made me a better teacher, and how it has also shifted my students back into true healing and empowerment.

I’ll be sharing something real and raw words with you, stories, struggles and I’ll be dropping some truths. So if you’re a student or a teacher, you’re going to want to follow along.

😭 💗 This is IT!

A lovely student told me this after class today and my heart exploded. All the things I’ve flubbed up, all the things I’ve learned, the experience I’ve had, the trainings and practice… this is why. To provide a safe space for bodies and minds.

Trauma sensitive practices that are still curious, challenging, and connect humans back to their authentic glorious and safe nature 🥰

After 7 years in South Carolina, the Danners and Sculpted Lotus Yoga have packed up and MOVED back to Portland, OR.

Meow! 🐈‍⬛ 🐾

I got my Samantha American girl doll when I was 9 years old 💕

I was such a creative kiddo and imaginative too! I always DREAMED of seeing things and crafting things for my doll to celebrate holidays, gathering with friends to play and build a community. I had a friend who would imagine with me and we’d do the best we could to create their world not really even knowing where to start!

This is why I lead doll parties! We move our bodies through shapes and warmups building body awareness as well as getting energy moving for optimal creativity.

Then we create!!!

I come up with projects that have skills like tracing and cutting patterns, sewing, gluing, repairing as well as making some things from recycling!

These kiddos leave HAPPY, proud of themselves, connected with community, and having learned and practiced skills that will enhance their development and proprioception.

I’m living out my childhood dreams and these kiddos have what I wanted in these classes, camps and workshops.

Samantha is getting her best life also. She got a black cat mask for Halloween this year 💕

I have one last opportunity for Halloween Doll Party this year, it’s 10/26 (next Saturday) 2-4:30 pm.

Preregistration is required so that I can prep enough materials for the kids.
