We are frequently asked if children are welcome in the office, and the answer is absolutely! Not only does Talya love to have young visitors, beginning chiropractic care at a young age is incredibly beneficial to the body. Preventative care for children can greatly reduce future pain and lead to much more comfort in the long-term. We are more than happy to treat your entire family!

Shovel smarter!

This week our number one complaint was lower back or shoulder pain after shoveling snow. Here are our top recommendations to prevent injury.

1) Bend with your knees, not at the waist. This helps prevent straining your lower back musculature.

2) Shovel in shifts. Although it can feel productive to remove all the snow in one session, shoveling in shifts can help your body rest after performing a new form of exercise. You will be less sore, and thus more productive later.

3) ICE preventatively after for 20 minutes. This will help keep the inflammation down and prevent pain.

4) Perform a few gentle low back or upper body stretches. Although shoveling may not feel like exercise to all, the functional movements aren't actions we are performing regularly. This means we should treat shoveling like a new exercise routine and stretch after!

The team at Absolute Health would like to wish you a happy new year! We want to make this the healthiest year yet, and have come up with a list of resolutions to make that happen!

1. Stay hydrated. It is important to drink at least 125 ounces of water each day to ensure that your body and brain can function at their best.

2. Choose cleaner, whole foods over those that are convenient. Prepping a homemade meal may take a bit longer than takeout, but the benefits are well worth the effort.

3. Take vitamins daily, especially vitamins C and D in the winter months to help combat sickness and compensate for the lack of sunlight.

4. Take a moment each day to take a few deep breaths and focus on yourself. Even a few seconds can help relieve significant amounts of stress and improve the quality of your mental state.

5. Lastly, get regular chiropractic adjustments! Realigning your body will allow you to be more comfortable and move more freely throughout the new year.
