These photos are over the course of a 6 Week NeoLifting Series. The first picture is before the series and after 4 sessions. The next two photos are before and after side views from session 5. And the final two pictures are before the series and then after session 6 side views. It really is such incredible deep work. It’s also incredibly relaxing and a reset for our overwrought nervous systems. You may enter a liminal space.

Facial Cupping. The cups use a negative pressure to pull up on the tissues which can help relieve pain, restrictions, and stagnation. Cupping can be used to address muscular tension and fascial restriction. Facial cupping can allow fresh blood to circulate often bringing immediate pain relief.

What’s so unique about using whole plants in a facial?

All the plant-based products assist in the relaxation piece, bringing in fresh blood flow, hydrating the skin and decreasing inflammation. They boost and amplify the massage, cupping, Gua Sha and lymphatic drainage. The plants work to soften, hydrate and support the skin barrier and infuse your skin with antioxidant rich and nourishing formulas to assist in healing. Different plants do different things! So each facial is apothecary style, unique to YOU.

You are your best healer. You choose to come in and take time to rest. You choose to prioritize high-quality, small batch skincare. You choose your health and well-being. We are in a long term relationship with our own skin. How do we want that relationship to look? How freeing to believe that who you are is enough. That you are okay. That you are beautiful as you are.

What makes a massage focused facial so special?

Massage helps to move us into our parasympathetic nervous system, allowing our body to rest and repair. Through the practice of integrated bodywork and massage, in combination with custom curated and slow infused skincare, the body’s innate ability to heal itself is supported. Massage improves skin health! It increases circulation, helps remove excess fluid, bathes the cells with fresh oxygenated blood.

I believe that massage is medicine.

I believe that massage can change the world. When we are touched with care and intention, and allowed the space to feel better in our bodies, we are better able to engage wholly in the world around us.

Thai Herbal Poultice has been added to the menu! Luk Pra Kob, literally translated to mean “pressing herbal sphere” is now available during massage and facial sessions. These are made from a traditional blend of herbs such as ginger, turmeric, lemongrass, hibiscus. The heat from the herbal poultice penetrates the tissues, softening and warming the body and face. Helps to alleviate tension, reduce puffiness, and stimulates blood flow. It feels extra wonderful as the days get darker and colder.

Massage is medicine. Massage and touch have been used for thousands of years to help us calm our nervous systems and relax. Massage and relaxation actually have a biochemical profile. There are physiological effects of touch. Levels of cortisol, our stress hormone, have been shown to fall in adults who receive massage. Touch can help us feel less depressed and anxious. When we are touched it stimulates the release of oxytocin which can lower blood pressure, lower cortisol, lower anxiety, and allow us to feel more connected, grounded and centered in our minds. It’s one of the reasons skin-to-skin contact as babies is so beneficial.

In our modern culture, we are deprived of regular and consistent contact and touch. Massage is true medicine for our bodies and minds. I feel grateful to do this work. It feels more vital than ever. Taking a bath, getting out in the sunshine, getting a massage, all of these can release oxytocin in our bodies - our calming and connection hormone. Massage and healing touch really can change the world.

I am proud to carry brands founded, created, and run by women. These brands are thorough in their search for quality, sourcing, processing, and creating. The skincare lines I carry are mostly organic, often wild sourced, biodynamic, hand-crafted, hand-bottled, sustainable, and vibrantly alive.

They use plants, nuts, flowers, seeds, spices and oils to lovingly make their deeply nourishing and healing skincare products. These small companies build and maintain relationships with farmers in the US and other countries to create and source their lines with integrity, care, and the highest quality ingredients.

This past week I had the most incredible learning experience and training with and my teachers and in Redondo Beach

I became a Certified NeoLifting© Therapist. I am so excited and proud to offer this highly specialized technique to my clients. It brings together so much of my previous trainings and adds many new elements as well. It is a combination of Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Sculptural Face Lifting Massage, Connective Tissue Massage, Intraoral and Buccal Massage. This is it’s own treatment session and facial separate from my other offerings. It has its very own page on the website uncommonyarrow.com/neolifting if you want to learn all about it! I will also be posting more about it in the week to come. I am so deeply inspired by the women I met last week, my two incredible teachers, and the effectiveness of this treatment. Stay tuned for more!

I wanted to share some exciting news happening at Uncommon Yarrow.

As of June 11, there will be a new practitioner working with me at the studio. Her name is Essie Olou and she has been a licensed massage therapist since 2010 and a licensed holistic esthetician since 2015. I have known her almost a decade now and have admired her work, her intuition, her enthusiasm for plants, her skill as a bodyworker, and her talent as a healer. I feel so lucky to have her here and I know you will all love her too! She is an incredibly gifted massage therapist, plant whisperer, and facialist. You can now book with her on Tuesday evenings!

You can use the staff member filter on the bookings page to choose who you would like to book with.
