"As most of you know, Oregon ranks at or near the bottom of states in terms of access to behavioral health services, and the study shows that. According to the study, Oregon needs to build 3700 new beds for adults to meet our state’s current needs. That breaks down to new 650 beds a year, for four years, and a price tag of $170 million a year, for four years. It’s a daunting task, but it’s what our state truly needs. I am planning on bringing a bill that funds the total need, approximately $830 million. We’ll see how much the legislature can actually afford to devote to this important need. Stay tuned, and watch for a more in depth hearing on this report in September during September Legislative Days in the Joint Committee on Addiction and Community Safety Response." -Representative Rob Nosse

“Oregon needs more treatment options to help young people in our state who are struggling with serious behavioral health issues,” Governor Kotek said. “The state and CCOs developed a plan to reinvest surplus Medicaid dollars into Oregon communities, and this partnership will support youth behavioral health projects that we desperately need.”
