'Take Root' Yoga School 200-hour training
Teacher feature: Richelle Ricard

Richelle will be leading the anatomy + physiology sessions in our upcoming program! She'll make this learning accessible, functional, and exciting, not just a 'memorizing muscles-and-bones' approach.

Richelle is an educator, bodyworker, and movement specialist. She has been teaching yoga teachers about anatomy, kinesiology, and preventing injury in asana practice since 2008. Her own 20+ year asana practice has shown her the value of critical thought regarding alignment and ex*****on, and brought her deeper into understanding of the "how" and "why" we practice yoga.

She hopes that together, the yoga teachers of the world can shift out of a practice of rhetoric and regurgitation, and into a closely observational style of teaching that honors the individual as well as the deeper energetics of asana practice.

We can't wait to have Richelle back to teach at our yoga school!

"Yoga occurs when we let opposites move right through our pores, only to see that opposition is a conceptual designation that falls away when we are with the energy of the moment rather than with our storytelling."

Arriving to class 🥰 studio etiquette reminders:⁣

🌿 Our doors open 15 minutes before class! Settle in + get comfortable a few minutes early.

🌿 Upon arrival, quietly make your way upstairs to the lobby. There is often a class resting in Savasana so it's best to keep volume low 😴

🌿 The teacher's mat should have the props that are planned for class. All props are provided in our prop room; typically students bring their own mats. ($2 mat rentals available!)

🌿 Be mindful of your space when setting up your mat 😌 Our spacious studio has plenty of room for our current capacity, but sometimes classes can be full.

🌿 Water, tea, and two restrooms are available in our lobby!

🌿 Bring all of your belongings into the studio with you. We have cubbies in the back of the room for storage. Please silence your phone and other devices. 🙏

🌿 Please make every effort to be on time. The front door is often locked right at class start time for security purposes. However, if the door is not locked and you arrive a few minutes late, we ask that you mindfully enter the space + wait to gather props until it feels appropriate to do so.

🌿 Be sure to sign up beforehand. Preregistration is required for all classes.

The collective consideration of everyone makes this a welcoming refuge for all members of our studio community! We look forward to practicing with you soon ❤️

Yoga Nidra for the New Moon
Friday, June 27th, 6:30-7:45pm with Danielle

Join us for a rejuvenating session of Yoga Nidra on the new moon. Translated as "yogic sleep," this practice invites you to gather in our studio for a deeply restorative and transformative experience that combines elements of meditation, relaxation, and conscious awareness.

Yoga Nidra is a meditation practiced lying down comfortably, while being guided into a state between sleep and wakefulness. As your brainwaves shift, your body experiences deep relaxation while your mind remains subtly aware. Within this liminal space, you have the opportunity to work closely with an intention, also called Sankalpa.

The benefits of Yoga Nidra are many, including quieting the mind, decreasing anxiety and stress, expanding awareness, and cultivating witness consciousness. It offers a chance to rest, reset, and explore your inner landscape from a place of non-dual awareness. This practice can provide a sanctuary of deep rest and stillness, allowing you tap into your innate wisdom, release tension, and experience profound states of relaxation.

Syncing up Yoga Nidra with the New Moon is ideal for turning your awareness inward and planting seeds of intention. It can be an opportunity to release old patterns, invite positive changes, and manifest desires. The moon provides both a sense of structure and a cosmic reminder to check in with yourself.

Our time together may also include a few journal prompts, so please bring your journal and pen if you'd like. Tea and yoga props will be provided; come dressed in comfortable attire and bring a yoga mat if you have one.

We look forward to sharing this transformative practice with you.
