Exploring Handstands – From Grounded to Lifted
Saturday, March 28th 12-2pm
with Birdie M
Curious about handstands but not sure where to start? This 2-hour Handstand 101 workshop with Birdie is a supportive, beginner-friendly space to explore going upside down with confidence, curiosity, and a sense of play.
Rooted in the yoga principles of sthira (steadiness, strength) and sukha (ease, softness), this workshop emphasizes finding balance between effort and ease—both physically and mentally. Handstands become less about forcing a shape and more about learning how to support your body with awareness, stability, and breath.
Birdie will guide you through the foundations of handstands using drills for shoulder mobility, wrist care, and core strength, while exploring proper alignment and safe techniques you can carry into your regular vinyasa practice. You’ll work with a variety of wall-supported and freestanding drills, different handstand entries, how to safely fall out, and how to spot and be spotted.
This workshop is about building trust in your body, learning different techniques, and enjoying the process. We’ll weave in mindset work, community play, and yoga philosophy to help you cultivate both strength and ease as you explore being upside down.
No prior handstand experience is required. Come as you are, practice in community, play with inversion, and discover how handstands can become a fun, accessible, and sustainable part of your yoga practice—with guidance, support, and plenty of room to explore.
