The animals helping us to clear the woodsy trail behind Rose Schnitzer Manor at Cedar Sinai Park are already hard at work, eating their way through our brambles and overgrowth! New resident Deann was excited--and a little surprised!--to see the goats and llama while on her mid-day walk. The animals are made possible by a $2,500 grant from the Oregon Jewish Community Youth Foundation, the student philanthropy arm of Oregon Jewish Community Foundation. Thank you, young philanthropists, for helping us to boost health and safety on the trail for our residents, team members, and the community.

Thank you, board, for honoring our team! Residents, staff, volunteers, and their families enjoyed the beautiful Portland weather yesterday as our board hosted an awesome employee recognition party outside the Robison Jewish Health Center/Harold Schnitzer Center for Living, complete with a band, food trucks, a bouncy house, and gift bags!

"Today, we're celebrating the many accomplishments of our team in helping with the residents and their families," said Board Chair Steve Rallison. "And family members, we recognize and honor you, as well. Every one of you, thank you!"

At our Home, we honor the natural and inevitable cycle of death, with every friend lost, by holding a Celebration of Life. The celebrations offer a final acknowledgement of each person by lifting up the departed's soul in talking about the good they brought, says Spiritual Life Coordinator Cathy Zheutlin.

"A final group acknowledgement reinforces our connection to each other, and how we value the way each other live," said Cathy. "It also allows us to see that we've been touched by each other. And staff and residents are able to be on common ground because we all shared life with someone, and we miss them, and it's nice for everyone to appreciate our residents in their own way."

We love you, dearly departed friends. ♥♥♥

We have goats coming to our campus! That's right, it's time to trim our ivy, blackberry bushes, and other invasive plant overgrowth affecting the health of our woods behind Rose Schnitzer Manor, so a team of four-legged creatures is coming soon to save the day!

The goats are made possible by a $2,500 grant from our friends at Oregon Jewish Community Youth Foundation (OJCYF), the student arm of Oregon Jewish Community Foundation. We appreciate our young funders' efforts at environmentalism and seeking to understand the safety and care of our residents, and surrounding community. Oregon Jewish Community Foundation

So many faces, so little time! And do we have a group of beautiful faces of residents to get to know and love at Cedar Sinai Park's Rose Schnitzer Manor! Sharing a sampling of a few of our amazing resident friends, each with their own talents and goals that we are privileged to support during the aging process. https://cedarsinaipark.org/portland-active-assisted-living/

Our Home is a place of belonging, where employees from all departments work together and enjoy one another's company while making our organization a success! Case in point: Human Resources Coordinator Cara (tenure 15+ years), Staff Accountant Jessica (tenure 2+ years), and Resident Driver Deanna (tenure 5+ years) work on opposite sides of campus, in different departments, but easily come together when it's time to team up for resident quality of life! The three are shown here, relaxing briefly in Rose Schnitzer Manor, at Cedar Sinai Park.

Want to come work with us? We have a handful of open positions: https://recruiting.paylocity.com/Recruiting/Jobs/All/89bb4201-cc0a-4771-bd48-f78ce26a3e1f/Cedar-Sinai-Park

We are looking for volunteers to lead blessings in our households on Friday afternoons! We encourage families, couples, singles, and friend groups to join us. "It's a nice way to start our own Shabbat," says volunteer Laura, with daughter, Eleanore.

If you are able to help on Fridays, lighting candles, saying blessings for the challah and wine or grape juice, and singing songs with residents, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Cassia, cassia.mcintyre@cedarsinaipark.org. Jewish Federation of Greater Portland
