NW Disability Support We work to create a more inclusive society for people with disabilities. Our vision embraces
professionals and the cross-disability community.

NW Disability Support is the evolution of our grass roots, parent-driven
family support network that began in 1997 as Northwest Down Syndrome
Association and our All Born (in) Cross-Disability Educational Inclusion
conference. We empower and support families and individuals who have
been touched by developmental disability. We work to increase education, promote public understanding and
acceptance

, work toward full inclusion, and defend the civil rights of
individuals with disability including Down syndrome.

Today, we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – a landmark civil rights law that ensures people with disabilities have equal rights and opportunities in all aspects of life.

For 35 years, the ADA has opened doors – literally and figuratively – creating access to schools, workplaces, transportation, community spaces, and beyond. It has been a vital tool in the fight for inclusion, equity, and belonging.

At NW Disability Support, we know the ADA is more than just a law – it is a promise. A promise that every person experiencing disability deserves to live, learn, work, and thrive in a community that celebrates their voice and value.

As we look back on this milestone, we also look forward – continuing to advocate for a world where access and inclusion aren’t special accommodations, but everyday reality.

Thank you to the self-advocates, families, and allies who fought – and continue to fight – for disability rights. You are the reason change happens and the force behind our advocacy and mission.

Share in the comments how ADA has impacted your life, why disability rights matter to you, or how you continue to build a world where everyone belongs.

Thank you to Disability Rights Oregon for their work rejecting this bill and their call for URGENT ACTION!

"Please contact your Senators immediately by calling (202) 224-3121 or by using this form:

- Tell them to vote NO on the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”
- Reject cuts that harm Oregon's disability community.
- Protect programs that save money and save lives.

These aren't just budget cuts—they're attacks on us and on our loved ones. Thank you for calling or emailing your Senators today."

Your advocacy can stop devastating budget cuts that hurt 1+ million Oregonians with disabilities!
