After a small renovation to the basement of our Washington Ave house we have half of it ready to take on 4 more occupants. And once the rest of the furniture is moved in, we will have space for 6 more on the other side. Additionally, we have added 2 sets of brand-new washer/dryers, a full-size ping pong table, and will soon have 2 more flat screens (hopefully massive 😉) in the basement living rooms to be able to hold in house events for things like the Superbowl or UFC. This has been a massive undertaking once again, but we are continuing to hold true to our values of creating the best possible situation for men in recovery to set up a base camp before heading to the top of the mountain.

“Recovery is not one and done. It is a lifelong journey that takes place one day, one step at a time.” – Unknown

Every week brings its own challenges, but also its own victories — some big, some small. This quote reminds me that it's okay not to have everything figured out. What matters is that we keep showing up, keep choosing the better path, and keep leaning on each other.

Cecil's Place isn’t just a sober house — it’s a community where growth happens daily, even in the quiet moments. Proud to be walking this journey with all of you. Let's keep going, one step at a time. 💪

This morning we got a MASSIVE surprise from our friends down at Androscoggin Bank! Amanda Lavoie, Mary Berardi, and Steve Caya out of their own pockets purchased literal baskets of food for the residents of Cecil's Place. We couldn't be more grateful for friends like this, we actually wouldn't be able to do what we do without you!

Recovery is not a straight line, but a sacred return to the circle of life — a cycle of breaking and mending, of losing and finding ourselves again. Just as seasons turn and rivers carve their way back to the sea, healing is a movement both forward and inward. We do not simply 'get better' — we remember who we are beneath the hurt, we return to our center. In the circle, nothing is wasted: every pain teaches, every setback reshapes us, and every new beginning honors the wisdom of what came before. To recover is to rejoin the rhythm of life — ever-changing, ever-becoming.

We hold a weekly AA meeting at both of our houses to bring the house together and get to know each other better. Tonight, at Cecil's Place 1, one of our residents took it upon himself to make a meatball sub spread to feed everyone before the meeting. This is the community that we are fostering inside these walls.

We are all capable of change, and together, we rise. 💪🏽
