Are you a list-er or non-list-er? 📝

Listing offers a quiet ritual to reflect and prioritize, even for a minute or two. And every time we cross or check something off, we enjoy that little dopamine hit of satisfaction. (There's nothing wrong with that!)

Listing might not be for everyone, so head to my latest article for a known list of list-y benefits—(and the risks of taking listing just a little too far).

A clear mind helps us pause before reacting. An open heart helps us respond with compassion.

Both take lots of practice, and it's the hardest moments that they matter most. ❤️

We are one week away from "springing" the clock forward (unless you live in Arizona!), so now is the time to start prepping mind and body for the time change.

Daylight savings can be tough on mental health and well-being due to the loss of an hour of sleep, and the disruption to our internal body clocks (circadian rhythms). ⏰

Start prepping now so you're ready next Sunday, March 9! ⛅️

Standard wisdom around meditation tends to prescribe 20 minutes or more per session — which, if you're a beginner, can feel like FOREVER! 🥵

A recent study showed long-time meditators use longer sessions, but beginners are best served by short bursts (think 5 or so minutes a few times per week). Much more doable!

I'm honored that my latest article, "Is a Few Minutes of Meditation Better Than More?" is positioned as an Essential Read by . 🧘‍♂️ I can't wait to hear what you think!

Hard conversations (with a spouse, sibling, child, coworkers\, your boss, etc.) are inevitable. But letting another's perceptions impact your self worth, or feeling responsible for others' feelings, doesn't have to be!

Whether you know a hard conversation is coming up, or you just want to be prepared when one does, swipe for a few pointers/best practices, and then head to my Psychology Today article, "How to Have Tough Conversations Without Taking Things Personally." ❤️

Self-doubt or imposter syndrome are persuasive, but they don’t get to be in charge.

That inner voice that questions your worth or whether you’re “qualified enough” shows up for almost everyone, regardless of age, gender, or background. The work isn’t waiting until doubt disappears. It’s choosing not to let it hold you back!

So keep showing up, creating, and not letting negative voices be the loudest.

(And PS, Sylvia Plath is one of my sheroes!)

Do you have trouble with uncertainty? 😨

Constantly asking yourself, “What if…?!” Creating nightmare scenarios for every eventuality; thinking you can work your way through any situation by sheer will and worry? (As if worrying actually changes outcomes—spoiler alert: it doesn’t).

So what to do? Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) targeting “intolerance of uncertainty” (or IU), has been shown to decrease anxiety in many contexts. And a brand-new study, looking at uncertainty in pregnancy and postpartum, tells us a lot about uncertainty in pregnancy and beyond too - anytime, anywhere.

Head to my latest article, "How to Put Uncertainty—Fear of the Unknown—In Your Control," for hacks on tolerating uncertainty, gaining control of your thinking, and getting comfortable with whatever that future brings. ❤️

For the third year in a row, Nurse Practitioners are once again ranked the #1 job in America by , with top spots in health care and STEM, as shared by !

After decades in this work, as a psychiatric NP, nurse-midwife, educator, and advocate, I know this ranking isn’t really about titles or lists. It’s about the way NPs show up for people when it matters most.

This feels like a collective nod to a profession built on skill, brains, heart, and resilience. I am so proud to be part of this community, and am appreciating and cheering extra loudly for my fellow NPs today! ❤️🩺
