Through the years and after working with thousands of tongue-tied babies, my approach to aftercare has evolved and changed, as will probably continue to do so! I currently find that an individualized approach to oral functional activities, timing of frenectomy, and comprehensive support for the whole family is vital to successful outcomes.

Silly sounds and playful touch can go a long way in helping infants with suboptimal gape and jaw tension.

This exercise, “Beep Bop Boop Bip,” blends fun sounds for baby with touches to their chin, nose, philtrum, and then a chin tug to help them practice opening wider. It also teaches baby to associate playful touch with opening wide.
