Our Pediatric Orthotics and Prosthetic Services (POPS) department partnered with Running is a Right for a second year and hosted a running clinic where patients were gifted a running blade and offered support from our staff (sports medicine, therapy services and POPS teams) to get comfortable with its performance. And most importantly they connected with other limb difference kids and families.

Shriners Children's Portland patient Allison (right) and her friend Leila (left) organized a thank-you letter writing initiative through La Center Middle School's Leadership Program. What started as a small project spread to the entire school, and they recently delivered over 350 personal origami notes, which were distributed to hospital staff. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness! ❤️❤️

Shriners Children's is thrilled to announce the establishment of a first-of-its-kind pediatric medical research institute in Atlanta, Georgia. Shriners Children's is investing $153 million into the facility at Science Square, which will create 470 new jobs.

Today is Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) Awareness Day. Did you know that Shriners Children's Portland has a dedicated AMC clinic? Krister Freese, M.D. shares more: "We have a multidisciplinary clinic that includes doctors as well as occupational and physical therapists so that we can provide comprehensive care to our patients. We also collaborate with other Shriners Children's hospitals on multicenter studies to advance the care for our patients. Patients with AMC are some of my favorites!"

We’re thrilled to announce that Shriners Children’s Portland has been selected as one of the 2025 winners of the ESPN Take Back Sports Innovation Challenge!

With support from ESPN Citizenship, we’re excited to work with youth sports programs and parents of those in sports in the Portland and surrounding areas to identify burnout and injury risks!

This investment will allow us to work on educational programming for hundreds of parents with children in sports and coaches, as well as work on sideline programming for injury prevention exercises. We understand the benefits of being active is for the mind and body, and we hope to see our youth become lifelong athletes!

Together, we’re working to Take Back Sports by creating access, provide training and making sports more fun-first for every child.

Today, ESPN’s new youth sports initiative Take Back Sports launched its official website and debuted a new animated video.

Thank you to all of our patients, families, friends and staff who came out strong to represent Shriners Children's Portland at annual Junior Rose Parade recently. A tradition since 1918, the parade featured floats, elementary marching bands, dance teams and lots of smiles.

We had such a grand time at the 118th Grand Floral Parade last weekend! The parade theme of "All Together Now" was embodied by our staff, volunteers, patients and families who came out to walk our beautiful float through the downtown streets. Thank you all for your support!
