Safety Side Up is an organization that provides services to improve the overall health and safety of the community, seeking to make opportunities accessible to minority and other underserved populations. At present, SSU offers health and safety classes (i.e. CPR/First Aid, Babysitter Training and At Home Alone), as well as special interest workshops and events focused on positive youth development. We are a proud Authorized Delivery partner of American Heart Association and Kidproof programs.

A great next step for youth who have already taken a babysitter training or a more experienced babysitter:

CPR for Babysitters teaches the lifesaving skills of how to act in emergencies that require CPR and relief of choking in infants and children. Skills are taught by using the American Heart Association's Family & Friends CPR course curriculum. This course does not provide a formal certification, but does provide a participant course completion card. Recommended for ages 11 and up. Registration fee includes the student workbook and keychain CPR mask/barrier.

Safe Sitter® is a nationally-recognized program that gives kids ages 11-16 (mature 10 years-old is okay) the skills and knowledge needed to safely care for children infants through school age. In
this 1-day workshop, in addition to the importance of treating babysitting as a business, participants will learn choking rescue skills, how to handle life-threatening emergencies, how to keep themselves safe, when and how to call for help, and child development knowledge to help them become a safer and better sitter. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises.

⚠️ Know the Signs of Heat Exhaustion!
Stay safe this summer — watch for:

🌡️ Heavy sweating
😰 Pale or clammy skin
😵 Dizziness or weakness
🤢 Nausea or vomiting
🤕 Headache or confusion

💧Cool down fast: Rest, hydrate, and get to shade or A/C.

The Safe Sitter class is perfect for youth ages 11 -16 who want to gain the skills and knowledge necessary for babysitting, taking care of younger siblings, or staying home alone.

They'll learn all the cool skills they need to be a superhero sitter—like how to keep kids entertained and handle emergencies! 🩹🎈
