A dreadful heat wave, neighbors! I know the city and county are good about reminding everyone to take care during extreme heat. I want you to take care during extreme heat. But I also want to gently point out that we will only see more of these events in the coming years due to climate change. Excess heat is most dangerous when the temperature does not go below 70 overnight, like last night. Please think about how long you will be in your current residence. and if you should invest in cooling measures like air conditioning, ceiling fans, blackout curtains or awnings for windows, etc. I have two skylights that get direct sun in the afternoon, and covering them with paper made a big difference. I will be installing some shades made for skylights that can be opened and closed. Please think long term about climate change and how you and your family will adapt. And please apply pressure to agencies and elected officials to take meaningful steps to slow climate change.
