Every month, our incredible Primary Care Provider, Karletia, works hard to bring more education to our community members and patients about various health awareness months displayed on our Community Wellness board. This month, we are celebrating Ultraviolet Radiation, Vitamin D, and Skin Cancer Awareness Month. While we will be posting helpful tips from the board on Wednesdays throughout the month, we also invite you to stop by the clinic and see the board in person.

We had such a great time walking in the Juneteenth parade! Even with the rainy day we had, it was wonderful to see so many faces from the community! We are excited to do it again this Saturday for Good in the Hood! If you'd like to walk with us, join us at King School at 10am.

Proud to have NxNE Board member and patient Derwin Cunningham speak alongside Senator Ron Wyden, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum and Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici about saving Medicaid. Derwin shared how access to Medicaid made a huge difference in his own health and life, and he spoke as a Board member about the positive, stabilizing impact it’s had on North by Northeast as an organization. Today, more than ever, we celebrate and acknowledge Juneteenth. 160 years ago, the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were told they were free from the chains that held them and many generations before them in slavery. Just four years ago, Juneteenth was officially declared a federal holiday under the Biden administration. Today is a day of reflection on the ongoing fight for racial justice and equity. We hope you take some time today to reflect on this moment in our nation’s history, and we hope you join us for the parade on Saturday!
