Our Social Accountability Committee plays a critical role in organizing and activating our community and creating opportunities for meaningful local engagement and substantial community impact. 2024 marked a time of momentum and growth, fueled by the energy of our newest Parkview building and the inspiring stories of service from both new and long-standing Members. Together, we continue to build a legacy of meaningful impact in our community!

Terwilliger Plaza is proving that retirement has very little to do with retiring—and everything to do with doing. Join a committee or council, volunteer, or join the Board. There is a wide range of opportunities for Members to participate and make a difference.

For this week's performance of Friday Night Music, we're excited to host Portland Taiko. Formed in 1994 by Ann Ishimaru, Zachary Semke, and Japanese American community activists, Portland Taiko blends the tradition of Japanese taiko drumming with a sense of Asian American identity, creativity, and empowerment.

Matthew is the principal harpist of the symphony, and Keiko has been with the symphony since 2004. She is also a member of Portland Taiko.

We are delighted to host Ted Kaye, Secretary of the North American Vexillological Association, at our upcoming Saturday Forum. As a Vexillologist (someone who studies flags and their symbolism) Ted consults widely on the adoption of new flags and has presented papers at national and international flag-studies conferences.
