Hi, I’m Natalie! I’m not the type of doula-photographer who’s going to sugarcoat birth. Your body, your rules, and that's the bare minimum. I’ll be the one in your corner: honest, intuitive, grounded, sarcastic, and devoted to seeing it through with you. We’ll navigate what you want, what scares you, and make sure your birth unfolds on your terms, feeling supported the whole way through.
I’ve birthed my own two babies unmedicated with midwives, and I know firsthand what it means to cross that threshold and emerge on the other side. A little wiser, a little breathless, but absolutely euphoric and deeply empowered...for life. And because I’ve lived it, I understand the ache of crappy cell phone photos and hazy memories from the day you walked between worlds to welcome your baby earthside.
That’s why I also document births through photography and film, so your transformation is remembered as vividly as you felt it. And so your partner gets to be in it with you, fully present with their hands holding onto yours, not a camera.
These days, I’m raising our kids with my husband on a little homestead, digging in the garden, chasing chickens, and shuttling the kids between soccer and dance class.
And through it all, this truth remains: birth is sacred, fleeting, and once-in-a-lifetime. My purpose is to support you in it, and preserve it for you, so your birth story becomes one you can hand down through generations.

Being a dad isn't just showing up once the hard part is over. It's being there in the thick of labor, in the trenches of postpartum, in the daily choices to love, support, and grow right alongside your partner and child.
This generation is waking up to that. We're unlearning the passive dad stereotypes and stepping into something deeper! Dads can be nurturers, advocates, co-parents, and emotional anchors.
Here’s to the fathers who are doing the work. We see you. Keep going.
Happy Fathers Day!

June is Pride Month. Which is just always a good time to remind everyone about how important inclusivity is in birth work.
If the birth space doesn’t feel safe for everyone then it’s not a safe space at all. period.
I’m honored to serve all families with intention, clarity, and advocacy according to their preferences and unique needs. Because being inclusive isn’t an “extra” in how we see and care for families, it should be the baseline.
To every LGBTQIA+ parent, partner, birth worker, and baby entering this world: you belong. Not just during Pride Month, but all the time!

Birth photography is right for you if…
🧡You want to truly remember the day your baby came earthside—not just the facts, but the feelings.
🧡It’s a bigger deal than your wedding day (yep, I said it and believe it).
🧡You know this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience—and there’s no do-over.
🧡You want your partner fully in it with you, not fumbling with the camera or iPhone.
🧡You want to relax into your labor knowing someone else is capturing the story.
🧡And honestly? You know you’ll regret not having those photos later.
If you checked any or all of these then it’s right for you. No, your birth doesn’t have to look a certain way - because birth stories of all shapes and sizes are worth telling!

The One Where the Newborn Specialist Had Her First Baby… Part Two
Labor kept moving quickly. She spent time in the tub as her team supported her through every wave. Her mom kept texting updates to her sister, who was on a plane and then an uber, rushing to make it in time.
Around 9 cm, a student midwife noticed a slight cervical lip, so she moved to the toilet for a bit. When her midwife Carrie, checked her again, the lip was gone, and she could feel the baby’s head. Back into the tub, she went, and it was time to push!
And let me tell you—this baby wasn’t waiting around. In just 20 minutes, while squatting in the water, she brought her little girl earthside at 8:45 p.m.
All the love that filled the room was palpable and her sweet sister walked in a couple minutes after she arrived with complete joy and shock! The look on her face still makes me misty!
It was a fast first-time birth, surrounded by so much intentional support. This mama knew what she wanted and trusted her body every step of the way, and it was truly beautiful to witness.

The One Where the Newborn Specialist Had Her First Baby… Part One
Years ago, this mama trained as a doula and attended several births before shifting into work as a nanny and newborn care specialist. She’s always loved babies and birth, but this was HER time, to step into the space as the birther and not the specialist.
Her vision for this birth was clear: laboring in the tub, skin-to-skin with her baby right after, and surrounded by her closest people—her mom, her sister, and her amazing doula and friend, Jordynn Quinine.
She reached out to me Friday morning with light cramping and spotting started, and she wondered if her water had broken but it had just been a light trickle. By 9 a.m., contractions were inconsistent but coming closer, and her back pain was ramping up. So around 4:20 p.m., she called and was told to give it a couple of hours but by 5:56 p.m. she knew it was time and headed in.
I followed right behind her and arrived at 6:30 p.m. to find her already 6-7 cm and working hard through close contractions. Her doula was right there, offering counter-pressure and hip squeezes, and her partner arrived soon after. The energy was calm, focused, and full of love—exactly what she envisioned.

My heart is full!
Watching my two kids grow up surrounded by nature on our homestead and feeling the unconditional support of my partner daily reminds me just how precious this season of our life is. These three are my biggest inspirations, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
I’m also incredibly thankful for every family I’ve been lucky enough to support on their birth journeys. Getting to witness the strength, love, and resilience of each mom as they bring new life into the world is something I never take for granted. Thank you for letting me be part of those powerful moments.
Wishing you and your loved ones a day of heart-filling gratitude and family time! Happy Thanksgiving!

Birth photography is for you if...
📸You want to remember every raw, powerful moment of the day your baby was born.

📸You want your partner fully in the moment, not watching it through your phone camera

📸You believe in yourself and want to see those unfiltered, real images of your strength during birth.

📸You believe in capturing the story as it unfolds, not just posed moments but the raw and honest reality of your birth experience.

Does that sound like YOU? 👋

Who “caught” your baby? Was it you? Was it a Doctor? Or Was it someone else entirely?

It sounds like maybe a ‘new’ question looking back on the 50+ years of medicalized birth but in many ways it’s a return to an ancestral way of birthing. It’s bestowing an honor of first touch and first hold to someone who is trusted by the birthing mother.

I love that for this family it was big brother who wanted the honor. He waited with so much patience to welcome his baby sister into the world!

One of the things I love most about being a birth worker in Portland is the deep-rooted bond within our longstanding birth community. We share a sacred connection that creates an unbreakable circle of support around you. Walking into most births here feels like stepping into a room of trusted friends for me, all there to support you through one of the most transformative experiences of your life.
The midwives in our community are some of the most compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated people I know.
It’s a privilege to work alongside such incredible birth workers who bring their heart and soul into every birth.
Happy National Midwifery Week to
