People are giving birth in prison every day.
Our work makes sure they don’t have to do it alone because how we welcome babies into the world matters, and dignity at birth can interrupt cycles of trauma.

Join us for an evening of joy, movement, and connection as we uplift pregnant and postpartum parents in correctional facilities across the country.

The Ostara Initiative provides doula support, education, advocacy, and community to mothers navigating pregnancy and birth while incarcerated. Joy is central to this work — creating moments where parents feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

Your participation in this fundraiser strengthens perinatal care inside prisons at a time when maternal health funding is shifting nationwide. Every dollar helps us continue this vital, dignity-centered work.

🧘🏾‍♀️ What to expect:
• Gentle, restorative yoga (all levels welcome!)
• Guided by Edwina Koch
• 60 minutes to ground + breathe
• Cameras optional — join however feels right ✨
• Zoom link + instructions sent after registration
• 100% of donations support Ostara programs in OR, WI, MN, AL + Federal systems
Let’s close out the year by moving together — and moving this work forward. 💛

Will you be there??

💜5 Reasons We Need Prison Doulas

1. Every birth deserves dignity.
No one should give birth in shackles or without emotional support — yet that’s the reality for many incarcerated parents. Doulas bring compassion and care back into the birth space.

2. Connection reduces trauma.
A doula provides consistent, nonjudgmental presence in an environment built on isolation, helping to lower stress and promote safer, more positive birth experiences.

3. Better outcomes for parents and babies.
Research shows doula support reduces medical interventions, improves birth outcomes, and strengthens the parent–infant bond — even behind bars.

4. Continuity of care matters.
Prison doulas bridge the gap between correctional healthcare and community-based support, ensuring people aren’t forgotten during pregnancy, birth, or postpartum.

5. Because healing is a human right.
Supporting parents in custody is about more than birth — it’s about breaking cycles of trauma and building futures rooted in care and possibility.

Imagine if everyone had access to care like this—where someone takes the time to teach you about your body, your choices, and your health. At the Oregon Prison Birth Project, our doulas provide that kind of holistic support for people in custody. 💛 Every visit is more than 30 minutes—it’s life-changing care that restores agency, dignity, and hope.

Inspired by leaders like Tanesha Duncan and organizations like , we’re building a future where health equity isn’t optional—it’s a right. ✨
