Chronic pain and trauma are intimately connected. For the majority of the first half of my life, I was in chronic pain after enduring 4 back surgeries. Fortunately, I learned my way out of chronic pain by learning to regulate my autonomic nervous system. This is knowledge that has been known both in the alternative and allopathic medical community for the last 6,000 years, but rarely is explained to patients in an appropriate way by healthcare providers. Why? Many reasons on both the patient and provider side, but one glaring reason is that there is no money to be made by educating patients on how to effectively eliminate their pain (one of the side-effects of a profit driven medical model).

While I’ve promoted this truth in my massage practice for the last 13 years, I’m beyond grateful that I’ll be able to promote this in the public health setting in 2 years ❤️. If I play my cards right, my dreams are to promote specifically to the LGBTQIA+ community, because as the super nice lady at the dispensary told me, “Oh my god that’s so amazing! People literally deserve not to die!”

It began with “thank you everyone for attending live-action Grindr.”

I quoted bell hooks. I gave homage to my family, and potential gay mentors who died in the 80’s. I told a story about pi***ng and farting on bioluminescence. I accused my brother of being a bossy bottom at age 5.

I’m so happy for them both. My brother and his now husband Phillip are 2 of the greatest people I know ❤️

My Healing Journey

I grew up in Salem, Oregon the son of a tree farmer and a veterinarian, surrounded by animals and nature. I injured my back at age 12, and had to undergo several surgeries which corrected the initial problem, but caused many others in the process and left me in severe chronic pain. Doctors could only offer prescription painkillers for the rest of my life as a treatment.

Refusing to accept this as my only solution, I began a lifelong search for natural ways to manage chronic pain. This search became my passion, and ultimately my career. I studied sports medicine in college, and later massage therapy, clinical hypnotherapy, and neuro-linguistic programming.

When I was introduced to Thai massage, I instantly fell in love and sought out masters in Thailand, Oregon, and Costa Rica for my studies.

This beautiful modality truly healed me -- I went from managing chronic pain for 20 years to reducing and eliminating it. I am so thankful that I get to share this knowledge with my clients.
