Psychosis is sometimes described as a loss of contact with reality. It can include seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, or feeling things that aren't there (hallucinations) and having extreme beliefs that don't seem to make sense (delusions). The way you talk may be very confusing to others. It may be very difficult to concentrate, and you may feel overwhelmed by your senses. You may even have a ha
rd time telling what's real from what's not. Having these experiences doesn't mean that you've done something wrong or that you're "crazy". They can be caused by many things, like not having enough sleep or going through a lot of stress. If they're not scaring you, stopping you from doing what you love, or causing you harm, then they can be normal. But when they're changing your life and making you feel out of control, they could be symptoms of psychosis. Then it's time to get help. The Early Assessment and Support Alliance (EASA) is a community dedicated to recognizing the symptoms of psychosis and supporting the young people (ages 12-25) who have experienced it. Our services are free to those who qualify. We offer fast and easy access to psychiatric and counseling services, education, support groups, employment services, volunteering opportunities, fun events, and many other ways to get involved! EASA has locations and services in most counties in Oregon. To find the location nearest to you, please visit our official site!
