Lemon Balm (Melissa Officinalis) is just one of my favorite herbs I have growing in my garden. Not only does it smell amazingly minty but it's also tasty & useful!
It's main claim to fame is it's usefulness in anxiety. It has carminative properties to heal digestive problems (especially due to nervousness/anxiety), it can be used for colds, migraines, insomnia, depression & hypertension (once again, especially when associated with stress).
Recent studies have found it able to treat herpes when applied topically!
People most helped by this plant present with stress, anxiety, restlessness, palpitation, hypertension, headaches, depression & irritability.
In times of COVID-19, we all have a bit of anxiety, anger, depression, misunderstandings, insomnia, etc... Lemon balm can be taken in a tea, tincture, or juiced & both fresh & dry plant material work equally well!
Contraindicated in hypothyroidism & during pregnancy.
