Women’s health is not one phase of life. It is a continuum.

From first cycles to pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause, and into your senior years, your body deserves individualized care that adapts as you do.

At PCHH, we look at the whole picture, hormones, nutrition, stress levels, digestion, sleep, and long term prevention. Women are not small men. Our physiology shifts across decades, and care should reflect that.

If you feel unheard, dismissed, or told your symptoms are normal, it may be time for a deeper evaluation.

Sustained stress levels are a leading cause of stroke and heart attack. Higher blood pressure, shortness of breath, chest tightness, or new fatigue or weakness are all warning signs.

Finding solutions to mitigate stress is crucial. Getting a dose of nature, meditating, deep breathing, and/or exercising are all great options for helping to process stress in the body.

Keeping a healthy heart requires maintenance (in the form of exercise)! But staying active during the cold and wet months can be challenging. Our bodies circadian rhythm slows and we naturally feel less energized with the lack of sun and blue sky.

Movement gets our blood pumping throughout the body and supplies us with energy to counteract that sluggishness. Aim for at least 25 minutes a day of dedicated movement whether you bundle up for a walk/run outside or find a YouTube video for inspiration. If 25 minutes feels like a lot, chunk it down to 2 or 3 short bursts. You owe it to your heart!

We all know fruits and vegetables, protein and whole grains make for a heart healthy menu. Yet for most of us, we still struggle to follow this advice.

What’s the one thing you can do this year to ensure healthier options? Cook at home!

When we make our meals at home we not only decrease the serving size, but we also control how much sodium, sugar, and oil go into those meals.

Knowing your numbers can save your life! We look at more than cholesterol. ApoB (Apolipoprotein B) is a protein found in certain cholesterol particles, including LDL (the bad cholesterol). Higher ApoB levels indicate a higher number of cholesterol particles, which can increase your risk for atherosclerosis and heart disease.

Get started on knowing your numbers by scheduling an appointment by phone or online.

For decades we thought about what to eliminate from the diet to achieve a healthy weight and a healthy heart.

Thankfully research has expanded from a list of “should not's” to include what we should have more of.

Choosing foods such as fatty fish, nuts, seeds, avocado, and olive oil deliver needed nutrients for the heart with an added bonus of feeling satiated.

Making one small change or addition to your meals a week will add up to big changes in 2026!
