At Birth First Doulas, we’ve been supporting expecting families and training doulas in the Portland area for over 25 years. We know what matters most is the health of you and your baby, and we also know that your experience of this journey matters! Our education center offers this to the community by preparing new families with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum education classes, and by offering training classes and workshops to perinatal professionals supporting families. Our educators support both families and professionals in the full spectrum of the early parenting journey from pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Brooke Noli and Rebecca Durlin Smith created Birth First Doulas to help families and doulas find each other! Over the last 25 years of attending births and training doulas in Portland, Oregon, we’ve watched the demand for doula services grow and grow but have not seen an equal expansion in systems and businesses that support doulas to provide their services.

Our Birth First vision is to be Portland’s most trusted doula agency and to provide the business framework, professional standards, and reliable reputation from which families and doulas both benefit.
