Healing isn’t linear—and it’s rarely tidy.

In our clinic, we don’t expect you to come in with perfect answers or the “right” language for what’s going on.

We’ll meet you in the real: the fatigue, the tension, the stuck places, the not-sure-why-you’re-here-but-you-just-know-something’s-off.

We believe in a medicine that meets people where they are. A medicine that listens first. That stays curious.

If you’ve been feeling disconnected from your body—or just ready to feel more like yourself again—we’re here.

Paul is now accepting new patients, and you can follow the link in our bio to schedule an appointment with him!

BERRY SEASON! ✨🍓🫐

In East Asian medicine, sweet-and-tart fruits like berries are said to "nourish the fluids." When foods nourish the fluids, they support hydration, smooth digestion, and provide reserves for tonifying and strengthening our vitality. This is especially true in the warmer months, when the main “climactic factors” our bodies deal with are heat and dryness.

The following recipe is for a simple, cooling berry tonic that features berries and cucumber to nourish fluids as well as mint to help cool down summer heat! Perfect for the hot Portland days that we are experiencing. 🌞

🍃🍓🥒 Berry, Cucumber, and Mint Summer Cooler

1 cup fresh berries
1 small cucumber
Juice of ½ lime
Small handful of fresh mint
Splash of coconut water (optional)

Blend thoroughly + sip slowly.

Your body (and fluids!) will thank you!

From Emma: "I enjoy helping folks return to a sense of themselves by re-learning what it means to let go and be a body. I believe our bodies are infinitely wise, able to heal and re-calibrate and just need a little reminder sometimes how to do that!

Whilst I also love the scholar-physician aspect of study, in the clinic I enjoy thinking with my hands.

In this fast-paced world, I think we need places where we can drop in to our senses and and give our nervous system time to integrate and rest."

Stephen and Melinda here! We are getting so excited about all the different things we can talk about here on our little IG account everyone! Thank you so much for being a part of our community here.

Today, we’d like to introduce Episode 2 of Things We Wish We Could Spend More Time Talking About in Clinic! Last time, we talked about a fan favorite — dampness. Today, we’re talking about a different topic, one that is so close to our hearts (literally). This is the notion of Yangsheng, or “nourishing life” and that is our essential mandate as practitioners of Classical Chinese medicine.

The idea of Yangsheng originally shows up in the Zhuangzi, a Chinese philosophical text that’s known for its playful wisdom. Through the metaphor of a masterful chef effortlessly cutting up food, Zhuangzi refers to the idea of nourishing life as “緣督以為經,” a play on words which both means that 1) one must adhere to the laws of nature if one is to remain in good health; and 2) that staying close to one’s Du mai—the most yang channel in the body, that lives in the center of the spine— is the road to greatest health. Mmmkay, Zhuangzi. But what does this mean for us nowadays? We’ll share our interpretation, essentially, what this ancient Chinese philosopher means to say is that each one of us must learn to listen closely to and remain within the limits of our most core energy if we are to remain in balance in our own bodies as well as in accordance with the natural cycles around us. 🌞
