A DOT random testing pool is a group of safety-sensitive employees subject to unannounced drug and alcohol testing.

Key fundamentals:
• Selections are made using a scientifically valid random method
• Every driver has an equal chance during each selection cycle
• Testing is spread throughout the year to meet federal requirements

Annual minimum testing rates (FMCSA):
• 50% of the pool for drug testing
• 10% for alcohol
