Jaydon was struggling in school and exhibited reactive behaviors due to his ADHD and challenging homelife. When his therapist learned about Great Life Mentoring (GLM) through ZoomInfo, she knew Jaydon could benefit from having a strong adult presence in his life. GLM uses the ZoomInfo platform to help mental health organizations learn about our free services for youth facing adversity.
Jaydon was matched with a volunteer mentor who passed a rigorous background check and received extensive training. This person has become a long-term trusted friend for Jaydon. His mom describes Jaydon’s mentor as a “very calm and peaceful person who is always there” for her son. Less than two years later, Jaydon himself has become remarkably calm and patient, and he is enjoying school for the first time.
GLM has over a thousand stories of youth who have overcome adversity, just like Jaydon. Each child’s story is unique, but they all include a mentor who faithfully provides encouragement, consistency and hope.
When mental health treatment alone can’t offset the negative impacts of a child’s life circumstances, parents and therapists can look to GLM. Sometimes what a young person needs is just a friend who is there for them—not because it’s their job, but because the child is worthy of love and belonging. They need someone who believes in them—someone they can trust and count on.
