I got the day I hoped for. And worked for, honestly. I did every single fu***ng rep of this prep (mostly as a mental exercise; got lucky with 12+ weeks of no illness or injury making that mental exercise possible) and went all in. Whole ass. All my eggs in this basket.

I’ve never done that before with anything; I usually pride myself on maintaining my generalist status.
.but, turns out magic can happen when you give it everything.

9/9 day, 27 white lights and 477.5kg/1,050lb total. Magic, indeed.

What I failed to appreciate when I first started lifting was how much of a team and community sport powerlifting is. I feel so grateful to be surrounded by the people I am who inspire and challenge me, support and hold me accountable, and selflessly help with no questions asked. There’s no sweeter reminder of how all flourishing is mutual.

Extra shout out to anyone who does this sport while having a real job or with a family/kids. I was only able to put in the work that I was able to because of my extreme schedule flexibility, access to equipment in my own space and a partner who is happy to have both of our lives revolve around my lifting and recovery schedule.

What a dream.

Hey wanna go to nationals?

It’s Pride month every month around here.

This is one of my favorite pieces of art that I have in the studio, it stands sentry just inside the door to greet everyone who comes in (along with the girls barks 🙃). I’m honored to keep a space that holds so many q***r folks and gender non-conforming folks; they are some of the strongest people I have ever met.

Every June we remember out loud that the first Pride was a riot and that it isn’t about turning straight kids into q***r kids but about not turning q***r kids into dead kids.

Come as you are. Come lift. Come move. All bodies, ages, genders and skill sets are welcomed and celebrated.

All year long.

Maine State Championships 2025 in the books! (Thanks making us all looked jacked and badass)

is as solid as they come and came up with a game plan that gave me a big fat dots score PR (408!), some meet PRs (with second attempts), an 8/9 day (questionable 3rd attempt deadlift call on my part 😅 no ragrets) and maybe an unofficial attempt at the squat state record?

Hard to argue with a day of lifting with your friends and a stacked roster (top 5 lifters in the women’s open all scored over 400 dots— shoutout to Carlee for absolutely walloping all of us 🦾)

Looking forward to getting back to training; that’s the real fun part for me.

Proud of this crew and the work they put in yesterday! They all hit massive PRs, learned a bunch, had a ton of fun *and* won their divisions (and it was 3 of the 4’s first meet!).

Powerlifting is fun! You should try it 🙃

I bet you were wondering if this is me doing an impersonation of the respiratory diaphragm, right?
I don’t often wear my anatomy teacher hat these days, so I’m feeling extra grateful for the opportunity to be teaching anatomy and physiology for 200hr YTT.
Not that I ever completely take that hat off; anatomy and physiology have always been a nerdy interest of mine that shows up in all of my professional endeavors. If you work with me already you know that we frequently end up in discussion about respiration, biomechanics and tissue tolerance. I’ve realized that one of the reasons I’m so passionate about learning about bodies and sharing that information with people who come to work with me is that it often provides a much needed context and framework for experiencing and interpreting ourselves and our bodies. Knowledge is power and by simply being more informed about this thing that you live in, you can’t help but become more embodied and present.
Most importantly for me, it opens the doorway to curiosity which leaves less space for fear/avoidance and interestingly enough: body pain. Yep; by knowing the mechanisms through which your body works and how it communicates with us (pain is a great communicator, but in reality is simply a call for change) our experience of pain can markedly decrease.
Cool, right?
Bodies are cool.
Here’s to landing more deeply in ourselves ✨

I lost a friend yesterday; my original mastiff love, studio dog and nap buddy, Kitty. Canine companions are a special kind of unconditional love, and this gentle giant was especially gifted in that realm. He was a gentle teacher for my girls, a fierce protector of what he loved and had single handedly perfected the art of doing nothing except sniffing the breeze. It's a wild understatement to say he'll be missed, he left a 140 pound mark on everyones' heart he came in contact with; mine aches in his absence.
Martin Prechtel says that, "grief expressed out loud for someone we have lost, is in itself the greatest praise we could ever give them."
So, grieve we will.
Thanks for all the snuggles, sneezes and monster noises ♥️
