Nayan was born on a sunny summer afternoon at Alma. Their Appa birthed and caught them with so much strength and love.

Midwife Olivia has had the honor of supporting this beautiful family through three pregnancies and births. She holds the memories of the births of Sanchal, Kaanan and now Nayan so dearly.

Happiest of graduations to Sonny! It is always so special to have helped a family welcome multiple babies into the world. Big brother Clay was born at Alma with the same midwife Olivia and student midwife Bonnie and Sonny was born at home-too quickly for us to set up the tub as planned! We will miss his smiles and getting to see him grow. 🥹❤️

Liliana was born during “golden hour” in the Fern room, welcomed in the tub by her dad and big sister (who helped catch her!).

She’s grown fast in these 6 weeks! We’re sure going to miss her snuggles and sweet demeanor 💜

It’s Birth Center Week 2025! (Sept 14–20)

This annual celebration was started by China Tolliver and co-founder Leseliey Welch to uplift birth centers and midwifery-led care — especially in communities most impacted by disparities in maternal health.

We’re taking this week to honor all of the birth centers and midwives doing this transformative work around the world. ✨

Here at Alma, we are deeply grateful to offer safe, comfortable, culturally reverent care to families in our Portland community — from the first prenatal visit to postpartum healing and beyond.

Welcome to the world, baby Lucas! 🐣

On a warm, balmy summer evening, Lucas was lovingly born into his parents’ hands, in the tub at home.

You may recognize his mama and his cute striped sleeper from when his big brother Marcus “graduated” from Alma—the very same one Lucas wore in his honor.

A quiet, beautiful way to carry his brother’s love into this new chapter. ❤️
