Wellness Wednesday is about Analog Wellness.

When is the last time you really unplugged🔌? Not just put your phone down but truly stepped away from the dings, screens and scroll?

This week we are leaning into analog wellness - the art of nourishing your nervous system without a device in sight.

Some ideas:
📖 Read a book
📝 Journal (with your favorite pen)
🌳 Sit outside, under a tree and just observe
🧶 Crafting or creating with your hands

Unplugging isn't about shame or rules. It is about remembering that rest, connection and creativity do not need to be digital. Your mind and body crave slowness, presence, and space.

Wellness Wednesday - Let's Get Creative!

🧶 Research shows spending time exercising your creative talents can boost your mood and feelings of fulfilment. Creativity is not about perfection; it is about expression, release and connection.

🎨 The University College London & the University of Florida found that people who took up arts, crafts and DIY projects during COVID lockdowns felt happier and more satisfied than those who watched more tv & movies.

⏳ Tip: Set a timer for 10 minutes this week and let yourself create without judgement. Write a poem, move your body freely to music or just let your pen wander. See what shifts!

💫 Slow Flow Tuesdays: Build gentle strength and flow with your breath. 6-7 PM with Aleksandra. There is also a Zoom option!!

🌙 Yin Thursdays: Settle deep into stillness and stretch. 5:45-7 PM with Alex.

We are continuing our series where we spotlight the folks behind the magic: the acupuncturists, therapists, reiki practitioners, yoga teachers, admin team and all of the healing hands at Rosemont Wellness Center.

This week we are highlighting Alex Argo. Alex is a member of the admin team as well as one of our yoga teachers! This summer you can practice Yin with Alex on Thursday evenings at 5:45.

Here are Alex's three things:
1) I love horror movies, ghost stories and all things supernatural and spooky.
2) I am a classically trained vocalist. I studied jazz and opera through college but mostly I love to sing musical show tunes. I also used to sing backup vocals in a rock band.
3) I am an ordained minister and have officiated two weddings.

It is so nice to get to know fun facts about people you've known for a long time! We hope you are enjoying our series and stay tuned for more!

Wellness Wednesday - homemade body scrub

Creating your own self care products with pure ingredients may sound daunting but there are actually some really simple recipes out there!

Keeping your skin glowing over the summer can be as easy as three ingredients. Remember to use clean utensils and glass jars. Refrigerating your body scrub can help keep it fresh longer and offer a nice cooling sensation on a hot day!

In a bowl, mix together, until well combined:
🤎 1/2 cup of brown sugar
🫒 2 tablespoons of olive oil
🍋 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice

Gently massage over damp skin and rinse off.

Play around with different fresh ingredients to find your unique custom blend!

Wellness Wednesday Time!

This week we are checking in & we want to know 👜 what is in your summer wellness bag 🧴!

Whether you are headed to the beach, the park or just out for a sunny stroll, having a few intentional items in your bag can help you feel grounded, hydrated and cared for.

Here are a few ideas to pack:
🧴 Mineral sunscreen
💦 Reusable water bottle
💧 Electrolyte packets - helps you absorb the water better, especially when you are sweating a lot.
🍇 Easy snacks (fruit, protein bars - but nothing that will melt)
📒 A book or a journal
🎧 Earbuds for your fave playlist or a podcast

We are continuing our series where we spotlight the folks behind the magic: the acupuncturists, therapists, reiki practitioners, yoga teachers, admin team and all of the healing hands at Rosemont Wellness Center.

Jess Fairclough (office manager at Rosemont Wellness Center & Six Branches) is sharing her three things 👇🏻

1. I have an irrational fear of moths
2. I slightly obsessed with craft supplies, organizational tools and plants. I have A LOT of all of them.
3. I wear many hats outside of work at RWC/SBFA: I am a mom, the owner of Portland Doula Co (), a reiki master, maker of things, and trauma informed yoga teacher.

It is Wellness Wednesday! This week, as we honor Juneteenth, we are reflecting on rest as a radical act of liberation.

Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, and rest is part of the freedom. Rest is how we reclaim our bodies, our time, and our worth in a world that often tries to take it all.

Black leaders like Tricia Hersey of The Nap Ministry () remind us that rest is resistance. It's a way to push against grind culture, white supremacy, and systems that thrive on exhaustion.

As Hersey asks, "How can we access pleasure and joy and liberation if we're too tired to experience it?

This Juneteenth, let's honor Black freedom by making space for rest, softness, stillness...and by remembering liberation includes healing.
