Existential Enneagram

This one is a good one! (if it has typos, I’ll need to redo it)

Here I think we finally see the connection between my Enneagram and the stereotypical Enneagram others are used to working with. The 3rd dimension, which deals with personhood, is Socially (SO) motivated. This is where ego development happens, and what are y’all used to working with in your stereotypical Enneagrams? Ego! (Personality). Ego is the conglomerate expression of the person, in a way others can experience it. In existential approaches in general, the goal is to become more authentic - for that personality to work out its hangs ups and sticking points that lead to self-sabotage. Same thing here, and in this I present Self-Worth development- to the right of each point is a description- which you may recognize as “the high side”of the various points. That’s right - all my strange weaving roads lead to the same end!

But for this to be true, it means my way of getting here is valid, because each piece built up into the outcome. So Hah! I will pay myself on the back, and proudly announce it to a world that is not listening - though it is public, so, you can give it a gaze if it pleases you to do so.

This is relative to the FM3 Emotions Enneagram I posted a while back. It just talks about what Envy (point 6) is and how it relates to Anger (point 8 ), and Jealousy (Point 4). I felt like sharing it.

"Envy* - It hurts that I am missing from My Own what I am entitled to as a basic right I absolutely desire - would cherish it -, and it’s unfair because I perceive others do posses it. Similar to Anger, there is a frustrated intention here. What I know, who I am, is not congruent with my own intentions (desires, aims). The distinction for anger the is something intruding on My Own that I do not want, and with envy I am missing something from My Own that I do want. They can go together. I can be angry I have to deal with This, while I am envious that I do not have That, instead. Mixed together, the bodily feeling itself becomes very similar to jealousy. Jealousy is the self-identification with the external possession, and a terror of losing any of it at all. So in envious anger, I may be identified so strongly with the entitlement I don’t have + feel the frustration at the intrusion I do have as if I’m actually losing what I identify as (which would feel like Jealousy).
This is important to explore because it makes the difference between a Type 4 pattern and a Type 6 pattern - the Type 4 “fears rejection,” while the Type 6 “fears abandonment” in Enneagram speak. But this is folly, the 4 is truly fearing the hurt & sorrow (they know all too well) that rushes in when the external possession is not affirmed as the highlight of their self-worth. This is an issue in FM2, primarily, and grief work is vital for helping the Type 4 to find self-compassion so they may develop self-acceptance. The 6 is truly fearing the sense of meaningless, purposeless (includes utility), if they cannot have the rewards (appreciation) of being good (authentic). The work for them is in FM3, and is focused on development of self-appreciation, ego, and boundary work. Its a subtle distinction, and maybe it does not matter to most people, but I care."

The Social dimension is complex, there’s a reason why it’s hard to distinguish a type 6! Here is a more detailed diagram of what’s all going on while we’re dealing with Point 6, Attention.

Today I made a new Existential Analysis Enneagram. This one is part of the work done with FM3, in the dimensiom of personhood. It does not go into detail but consider the triangle the primary form of FM3. Ignore those points, 1, 2, and 4 are represent respectively the FM3 coping reactions: distancing oneself, flight forward, and defiance (abraison), and 5, 7, and 8 repeat that pattern on the opposite side. The triad points will associate more with the freeze reaction, splitting/dissociation but in context of thier own associated line/path.

This probably doesn’t mean much to y’all, but I find it exceptionally useful in understanding the real personal injury mechanics of the patterns we would associate with “lower health levels”.
