What inspires you to create art?

Nature inspires us every day in our craft.

My dad loves to take photos of sunsets to inspire him for his next pieces.

“It doesn’t get much prettier than this.” He writes me as he takes a walk with his dogs and then works on another basket.

Dad is back in Arizona and already in the shop! Here are some basket centers being shaped on the Genie.

It’s 80 degrees and blue skies in Arizona right now, us folks in Oregon may be a bit jealous of that. At least here in Portland it’s grey and gloomy for the next several months!

I don’t know about you but something about this weather brings out my creativity. On the other hand, my dad thrives in the sunshine.

What time of year and weather outside reflect in your creative juices?

He’s just about to get these guys started. What colors do you think will go best with each stone?

🌲 The holiday season has got us thinking about this beautiful Red and Green Moss Agate.

Don’t you just love how my dad coordinates the colors of his waxed thread with the stone?

The colors are perfect for decorating for the winter!

We’re thinking about selling some of these baskets at the Christmas Star Bazaar in Portland!

Would you decorate with an artisanal crafted piece of art?

Where do you source your stones?

Well my dad does a lot of the buying and trading but we definitely partake in some good old fashioned digs!

Be sure to keep an eye out for claimed sites. Do your research before you go out digging!

Feeling blessed that we are connected with so many groups and people who have been doing this for decades.

Rock hounding in Arizona with my dad’s lapidary club last spring. Looking forward to more digging in 2024!

What’s your favorite rock or gem to dig for?

Hello! I know I only have friends on here right now but let’s get this page started off right!

Meet one of our makers!
My dad : Gregg Stanford
69 y/o from Montana but living retired life as a snowbird in AZ/WA and everywhere in between them!

If you didn’t know this is a dad & daughter duo page! My dad doesn’t have instagram but I wanted to showcase some of the beautiful bushcraft work he and I make and the adventures we go on together.

This retired attorney also has a geology degree, and he’s been a rock hound since before I was even a blip in time!

Over the years our love for the Earth turned into sustainably collecting plants, rocks and medicine to recreating art out of what we forage from pacha mama.

This man spends a ton of time either digging or networking to source the best rocks he can find. Then he spends hours cutting, sanding and shaping them into pendants, plaques, etc. Some of those pieces get wire wrapped or put into my own artwork, but some of his best specimens are made into trivets and baskets.

Intricately woven, with hundreds of pine needles, waxed thread and sturdy hands, he’s able to create one of a kind pieces that I’m overjoyed to finally be able to share with the world.

More to share but I’ll save that for later!

Spider (Starburst) Jasper - from Mexico

A little sneak peak of what it looks like for my dad working on this masterpiece.

My dad enjoys weaving his baskets in his spare time. It takes hundred of hours to make just one. He finds it relaxing actually!

Amongst my dad’s many interests and talents, he has a geology degree, so needless to say he loves rocks! He and I have been rock hounds since I was young, always digging up and collecting rocks along our adventures.

A few years ago he got into lapidary as a way to be able to shape and cut stones to his liking. He picked it up so naturally he became the President of his Lapidary club in Arizona!

Now he has found a truly creative way to display his collection. By weaving them into intricate baskets with beautiful colors highlighting the stones within.

What do you think of his latest creation?

Thank you to my loyal clients and friends. I can’t believe after neglecting this page for so many years I still have so many of you on here.

I will be updating this page throughout the next few weeks and publishing my new website for Stanford Wellness to allow for easier booking and direct access to a lot more information.

I will also be organizing a women’s retreat and will be sharing that more on my women’s empowerment group page soon.

I was blessed to have been able to practice holistic medicine and massage therapy for over 13 years. Throughout my journey I have taken seminars and classes periodically. Though I’m beyond excited to announce that I will going back to school full time to become a physical therapist.

I’m so excited to continue my education in holistic medicine and to deepen my practice in more ways. I hope to share with you all of the wonderful things I will be learning and what I’ve learned from my teachers over the years.

I’m also very excited to be opening up my practice to new clients after only being able to take a few while working a corporate management role for the past 7 years. Now that I’m working remotely I’ll have so much more time to devote to this passion of mine.

Looking forward to connecting and healing with you all soon.
