My kid’s school has a rich curriculum honoring the people of this land. They come home nearly everyday telling me about the Elders that have visited and the real names of the lakes and rivers (not the colonizer names for them). On Friday their school encouraged everyone to wear red shirts to honor missing and murdered indigenous women. This is a public school btw. Brings me some hope. I love this shirt original art . It’s such a beautiful image of a woman being held and protected by bear spirit.

My heart aches as I witness the destruction of our forests and with it this precious bird song. The earth keeps getting hotter and our compulsion to destroy seems unstoppable. I have felt mostly powerless as the machines came for our precious forest over and over again. (Leaving behind more of a fire hazard than the trees in their natural state.) Now we protect the wetland corridor on this land. On Monday I went to a community meeting about how the remaining legacy forests around us will be destroyed in June. We have few precious days to try and stop it. This watershed is precious and loosing these forests means loosing water for humans and for wildlife. Bri put swallow boxes up under our house and the has chosen us for their breeding ground. They swoop and fly and rest and mate and it’s incredible to watch. I wanna show solidarity with all women and people! I am so happy to break the stereotype of what a le***an is and isn’t. I thought I was bi my entire life until I met my current partner and it became clear to me that I was 💯 ***ana. My relationships with men had been transactional. I thought all bi women closed their eyes and just pretended they were with a woman. With my current partner I don’t have to work so hard. I don’t feel embarrassed to be out in public with them the way I did with my male partners. I had this pit in my stomach all the time back then. I had been programmed by my culture to think I wasn’t a le***an because I loved dressing in high heels and wearing makeup and dresses. Every movie, love story and book was about straight people. Today, although I don’t have the freedom to celebrate who I am in public spaces, I finally feel comfortable being with a partner internally. In most environments it’s not safe to hold my partners hand or kiss them. I want to change that. ***anvisabilityweek ***ana

Today is my mother’s She was the Mothership that landed me here. I will be forever grateful for her resilience and wisdom. She came to the US with nothing. No English and no money and she was a single mother with a babe (my eldest sister). She worked as a nanny and maid for families from many different cultural backgrounds. She was funny and kind and warm and made everyone feel special. She was a deeply spiritual woman. Thanks for teaching me stuff mama!

Getting to this place feels surreal. It hasn’t sunk in at all. I have wanted to live in nature for eons and have had to pivot away from my dream a million times. I think manifesting is a mix of intuitive and counter-intuitive moves and a whole lot of begging and pleading. Grateful for our sleepy little town with amazing neighbors, who invite us over for breakfast and serve up this view. The elders here are kind and good teachers. Bri and I talked for hours about our birch trees until one of them kindly said, “you don’t have Birches, you have Alder.” We laughed at ourselves.
