Statement on Ohio Auditor’s Press Release:
“Hopesource is aware of the report made by the Ohio Auditor’s Office. Our clinical records were audited covering a period between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2024. The bulk of the alleged errors were services we provided that incorporated health and wellness activities, including physical fitness, along with traditional professional substance use disorder (SUD) group counseling services. We believe the auditor incorrectly interpreted current regulation in deeming these services as unbillable. Health and wellness services, including physical fitness, have been a staple of quality SUD services locally, statewide, and nationally. We stand by our quality services that were provided following standards set by The American Society of Addiction (ASAM) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The auditor’s opinion is one part of a process, and we believe we will win our case with the appeal process within the Ohio Department of Medicaid. In the meantime, we continue to provide quality care for our neighbors helping them live complete, meaningful, and happy lives.”
