Here are some of the things that will put a smile on your senior family member’s face during fall whether visiting them in their home or their assisted living community:

Fall Arts & crafts
Afternoon Walks outside (shorter days)
Making autumn snacks, ask your activities director
Autumn gardening, planting fall bulbs
Visit a pumpkin patch or orchard
Bird feeding plans, get supplies
Prepare for upcoming holidays
Mark calendar for holiday concerts and programs

Craft day on Friday: We started out with white pumpkins so that it would be easier to see the pattern. Orange works too, but you need more layers of paint to see the design. It’s also easier if you choose pumpkins with longer stems. I know that because we couldn’t find any and it was tricky! It’s nice to be able to hold onto something sturdy.
