If I had a dollar for every time I hear this BS myth… 🏋️

It’s actually bad for your joints to not be strong. Muscle is protective, it literally protects your joints from damage, from impact, and reduces your risk of injury.

Now, if you push beyond your limits, don’t listen to your body, and keep working through pain, yes, you can hurt yourself. But when you start with what you have and slowly progress to more load, longer duration, or higher reps, you can train your muscle mass to be your joints’ BFF.

Building muscle is one of the most joint-protective things you can do for your body. Full stop.

If someone is telling you it’s not, just head to their bio page and find out which powder or paste or potion or program or masterclass they’re trying to sell you.

Spots are almost gone, and the deadline is May 24th. That is not a drill. 🔥

You have seen the posts. You know what this trip is. Four days on Monhegan Island with no cars, no inbox, no one pulling you in ten different directions. Just ocean air, incredible food, good people, and enough space to actually breathe for the first time in a while.

Yesterday, we talked about why downregulating your nervous system is just as important as the work you put in during class. Today, we want to show you what that actually looks like in practice.

Saturday, we are running a neck and spine myofascial roll-out class, and honestly, if there is one thing your body has been asking for, it is probably this.

Here is the thing about myofascial release that most people do not realize. It is not just a recovery tool. It is a performance tool. Yes, rolling helps speed recovery, but it also helps you to improve interoception or body awareness. And the better your brain is connected to your “parts” the more efficiently and agilely you can move and perform.

Everyone tells us stress is bad, but here’s the deal. We need stress, not just to change, but to live.

I mean, if the stress of the smell of chocolate chip cookies didn’t get powerful enough, you’d never get off the couch to go grab one. If you never stress your bones, they turn into goo. It’s the stress of a workout that makes your heart stronger. Stress makes us more resilient.

In fact, stress is great in small doses. It’s chronic stress or unmanageable stress that decreases immune function, increases inflammatory markers, and makes us less resilient.

So the key is to learn to fluctuate between stress and calm, between work and rest, between giving it your all and softening into relaxation.

That’s why classes like today’s Blaze Yoga with Nidra and Sunday’s 4:30 pm Flow to Nidra are such important parts of your practice. We move and stress the body and then slowly wind down into a guided, deep meditation that’s close to sleep, but not quite.

It’s in these resting moments that we learn and transform. We don’t build muscle during a workout; we build muscle when we sleep or meditate the day after a workout. 🌟 Notice the Nidra classes are the day after Jaylon’s sold-out weights classes? That’s not an accident.

My kind of busy.

That’s actually the baseline now, right? Not a crazy week. not a season, just…the entire world.

You’ve got a lot on your plate because you built a full life. people you care about, work that matters, responsibilities that aren’t optional. But to keep doing that (and stay sane), you have to refuel.

Here’s the trip of your dreams: a few days on Monhegan Island, moving your body, being outside, eating amazing food, sleeping to the sound of crashing waves, having conversations that aren’t rushed, waking up without that immediate pressure in your chest, and someone else planned all of the details.

Doesn't that just sound lovely? 😌🌿🌊
