In a society literally telling us everything to do to look younger, to dress a certain way, to wear makeup a certain way, to cover our “flaws”, to believe certain things…

It’s pretty damn rebellious to just love the skin you’re in. Just as it is. Without changing it or fixing it or filtering it (that was one of my mini goals of 2023, no photos with filters).

Your body is your home and you deserve it love it all.

Come to yoga and find that the peace that you’ve been searching for this whole time OUT THERE was really inside you the whole time.

What brings you joy? Whatever just popped into your head, make sure you do that this week.

We take so much time scheduling in ALL the things, but are you scheduling in what’s important? What makes you smile? What makes you feel like light?

It’s ok to schedule in your priorities. I can’t tell you how many people I run into at the grocery store, walking on the street…wherever it may be. And I always feel so bad when I hear “OMGIGOTTAGETTOYOGABUTLIFEHASBEENSOBUSYLATELY!”

First of all, I’m just happy to see you 💕 I don’t want to be a walking reminder that you’ve forgotten to come to class. Second, the STUFF will always be there. Make sure you’re taking time for whatever that is that makes you feel good. For me, it’s yoga (which I put on my schedule as a meeting, it is a meeting, with myself, and I refuse to cancel on me), outdoor time, and time with my loved ones. These things fill my cup.

Our society is super effective at teaching us to how to DO and it is substantially less effective at teaching us how to BE and how to relax.

It is a habit, just like anything else.

I would like to extend our deepest condolences to those affected by the tragedy in Lewiston. No matter where tragedy strikes in this world, it is too close to home.

I wanted to let you know that we are open. We want to continue to hold space for those in need, however, we will be locking the door during classes until the man has been found. This isn’t something we typically do, for a variety of reasons (ranging from wanting to allow for those running late, to coming from a trauma informed lens) however, in this moment, this is how we will proceed.

If you arrive late or need to leave early, just gently tap on the door to allow the teacher to be notified.

It’s not the big moves that change everything, it’s the small ones in your life every day that you practice that do.

Daily thoughts, daily practice, daily action…these are the steps to great change both individually and on the collective.

We don’t often get those B I G moments that we think are going to be the inevitable game changers.

But we don’t have opportunities every single day, when no one is looking, to lean into right action.

So today, you smile at yourself in the mirror and remind yourself of the greatness you hold within.

Smile at a stranger even if they don’t smile back.

Take the high road when no one is looking.

Consume food and media and converse with people that inspire and ignite you to your core.

Be a beacon of light for all. It starts with you. And it goes 360 degrees. And shines on all.

Because all are worthy.

And those little things? They’ll become the big things.

🐱 🐶 NICALOVE FUNDRAISER 🐐 🐦

NICALOVE is an animal welfare organization serving animals and those who care for them in the most vulnerable communities in Nicaragua.

3BY’s Mimi is integral in fundraising for this 501(C)(3) and is hosting a yoga class to raise money for NicaLove.

Saturday December 9th from 12:20-2, $35.

You can purchase online however cash or check in studio is preferred. 100% of cash and check donations will be given to NicaLove, credit card transactions are subject to fees.

While not teaching yoga or cheffing Mimi is the VP of NicaLove.org. She has been working on the ground in Nicaragua for over 3 years to help run a shelter for 300 animals, assist with spay/neuter and wellness clinics, and help in the local schools with supplies, English Language classes and more. Mimi will offer a 90 minute yoga practice that will celebrate animals with animal postures, like, of course Up-dog and Down-dog, but also Cat, Cow, Eagle, Rabbit and more! This practice will be offered online as well as in-person and will be “all-levels”. Mimi is a master at presenting yoga postures progressively, with plenty of modifications and options, all while moving playfully, mindfully, with a sense of balance, strength, and serenity! Please help us celebrate the birthday of Julie Burke (founder of NicaLove) and help us improve the lives of animals and their human families in some of the most vulnerable and impoverished communities of Nicaragua.

Yesterday a woman cried so peacefully in my arms after class. She was saying “thank you” over and over.

I cannot tell you how humbled and honored I am to hold space for people.

It’s an amazing job but it isn’t easy. I love teaching classes that resonate and touch people to the core and move the STUFF that needs to be moved.

I know the work we are doing is changing the world, one breath at a time. So thank you to every single yoga teacher that I know.

Keep showing up even when it isn’t easy.
Keep teaching what you know because I promise you, it is healing. Even on the days when you think you didn’t teach your “best” class. Even on the days when you skipped an entire side of your sequence.

Yoga teachers aren’t just instructors of fitness. They are teaching you tools to be more mindful, peaceful, kind and compassionate. And that’s the $h!t that’ll move mountains.

To all my teachers, I bow.
