Should you only introduce 1 plain pureed food at a time? 👇

The answer is, it’s actually okay to introduce mixed foods as long as it doesn’t contain any of the 9 major allergens. 

AND there’s also no need to wait 2-3 days between new foods as previously thought (the exception being those Big 9 potential allergens I listed before). 

And it’s okay to offer your baby seasoned foods that you’re serving the rest of your family—mashed sweet potatoes with cinnamon, avocado with cumin & lime, noodles with pasta sauce. Any other ideas?

The answer depends on your kids specific situation, but the answer is typically no. 

No doubt protein is super important for health - there is a minimum amount of protein that bodies need to grow and repair cells, transport other nutrients, and participate in the immune system (to list a few things that they do) - but, marketing is leading us to believe that we’re ALL short on protein.

We LOVE playing with our food over here! 

Here are 3 reasons you should have your kiddos playing with food ⬇️

💚Independence: Playing with food gives your kiddo more independence in preparing their own food and this can increase their willingness to try new food. 
💚Reduced food anxiety: Introducing foods in a way where there’s no expectation to eat it after the craft is a great way to begin to reduce anxiety around food. 
💚Creative expression: If you have a creative kiddo, they might enjoy doing food crafts and it may spark their interest in food and reduce negative emotions surrounding food.

Are you feeling nervous about Memorial Day weekend coming up, and you’re not sure what your kiddo will eat? 

If your kiddo is someone who doesn’t like mixed textures, try serving food components separately! 

Have a make-your-own pasta bar where guests can choose which ingredients they want in their own, that way you’re kiddo feels included as well. 

Some other foods you can try this with are: 
☀️Potato salad 
☀️Coleslaw 
☀️Garden salad

Playing with food is such a good way to get your kiddos interested in food. 

Let them pick out some of their favorite fruits and get creative! 

If they’re not there yet, that’s okay. Pick some fruit up and do the activity as a craft… without the expectation that they’ll eat it. No pressure included.

Try out this fun apple donuts recipe with your kiddos. Let them help pick out the toppings and decorate their own apples. 

Remember, adding some sweets to your fruit doesn’t take away from the amazing micronutrients. Plus, playing with food is a great way to increase exposure.
