I love this book [Wuthering Heights] but the Romani erasure is such a bummer. Heathcliff being a “Gypsy” is a complex part of the story and they could’ve done something special and powerful with this representation through a Romani actor and commentary on anti-Romani racism that continues today and runs through this story like a river. Not to mention that Romani people are so underrepresented in the US that most people don’t even know who we are despite our ongoing persecution. Instead they decided to whitewash as always because it’s Hollywood.
