Endometriosis Awareness 💛

Did you know that endometriosis affects about 1 in 10 women of reproductive age, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)?

Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. The most common symptom is chronic pelvic pain, especially just before or during a menstrual period.

Other possible symptoms include:
• Pain during sexual in*******se
• Pain with bowel movements if the bowel is affected
• Pain with urination if the bladder is involved
• Heavy menstrual bleeding

However, many women with endometriosis have no symptoms at all. Some only discover they have it while being evaluated for infertility or during surgery for another condition.

If you’re experiencing persistent pelvic pain or heavy periods, talk with your healthcare provider. Early evaluation can help guide treatment and improve quality of life.

💛 Acetaminophen and Pregnancy: What You Should Know

Acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol® and many over-the-counter pain/fever medicines) is commonly used during pregnancy and is considered one of the safest options when pain or fever relief is needed.

Why it’s often recommended in pregnancy:
• It helps ease pain and reduce fever — both of which can be important during pregnancy.
• ACOG continues to support acetaminophen as the analgesic/antipyretic of choice when used appropriately.
• Fever left untreated can pose risks during pregnancy, so treating meaningful fever can be beneficial.

Important things to remember:
• Always talk with your provider before taking any medication during pregnancy, including acetaminophen.
• Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest amount of time needed.
• Follow label directions carefully and watch for other medicines that also contain acetaminophen so you don’t accidentally take too much.

What about recent headlines?
There’s been public discussion about possible links between acetaminophen use and neurodevelopmental outcomes (like autism or ADHD). ACOG and other major health bodies emphasize that current evidence does not show a causal relationship, especially when medication is used as directed and under medical guidance.

If you’re unsure what to take for pain or fever while pregnant, come talk to us — we’re happy to guide you through safe choices tailored to your health and your pregnancy ✨
