Lewter is a native of Hampton Roads with over 15 years of experience in accounting and more than 20 years as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Her journey as a therapist began in 2003 at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA, following a 15-year career as an Accountant and Auditor for the federal government in Washington, D.C. She earned her Master of Arts in Counseling in 2005 and went on to spend 13 years working with at-risk children and families, survivors of domestic violence, sex offenders, and military families. Linda also managed several in-home family service agencies and contributed to the Psychological Health Outreach Program for Navy Reservists in Norfolk, VA. Linda’s introduction to the Imago Relationship Theory came through the Oprah Winfrey Show, where she first saw Dr. Harville Hendrix discuss the model. Inspired, she began traveling regularly to Silver Spring, MD, where she trained under Rebecca Sears and became certified in 2018. Since then, she has served as a workshop presenter and Imago clinical supervisor. Linda was recently invited to join the faculty of the Imago International Training Institute. Known for her ability to meet clients where they are, Linda brings warmth, insight, and authenticity to her work, helping others grow and heal. She also believes deeply in doing her own inner work and maintains a number of meaningful relationships that support her personal growth. When she’s not working, Linda enjoys relaxing at the beach, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Did I ever share my journey:
✨ From Auditor to Life Transformation Coach ✨
For 15 years, I worked as a government auditor and CPA. I had everything I thought I wanted — stability, success, and the goals I’d set for myself back in high school.
But deep down, I felt empty. I’d wake up each morning asking myself, “What hurts?” and if I felt any discomfort at all, I’d call in sick. The truth was, I wasn’t living with purpose. My work felt repetitive and disconnected from who I was.
Then life hit hard. After the tragedy of 9/11 and the loss of my niece, who passed away shortly after her 30th birthday, I realized how precious time is — and how I was spending mine. That moment changed everything.
Fast forward to today… I wake up each morning excited about my work and the lives I get to impact. I help individuals and couples move from conflict to connection, from despair to hope, and from self-doubt to confidence.

About

My name is Linda Lewter and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I provide mental health and relationship coaching services.

As a result of working with me, my clients experience a release of painful memories, challenge negative thoughts that cripple their present, and gain hope for a vibrant future. I am looking for individuals who are ready to take their life and relationships to the next level.

I have often found myself in life situations where I needed help with relationships, grief, addiction’s education to support family members, guidance, advice or just someone to tell me I wasn’t crazy. That’s when I have found couseling to be valuable in helping me clarify, process, explore and affirm thoughts and feelings to propel me to the next level.

I provide a no blaming, no shaming safe space where clients can bare their souls. I provide homework that allows clients to process and reflect on information discussed and allow clients to gain practical use of tools that can be implemented for immediate results. It is important to me that my clients are heard and participate in the direction and planning of treatment. I am very openminded, laid back and often use humor, when appropriate, to create a very comfortable space. I also have an ability to meet people where they are and put those who are new to the counseling process at ease.
