Sessions typically last about 50 minutes, but the key is active participation from family members to make real progress.
Common myth: The "patient" has to be there the whole time. Actually, as long as they're present for a significant portion (often 16+ minutes, depending on guidelines), it qualifies as family therapy with patient present.
