It's Your Move

Did you know that as a patient, you have the opportunity to seek the care that you need, now? Direct Access to physical therapy means that you can receive an evaluation and treatment from a Physical Therapist without a physician's referral or prescription.

Direct Access is available in all 50 states, but keep in mind, each state's rules will vary. In New Hampshire, this is the case, but certain insurance plans require a physician's referral prior to evaluation and treatment.

No matter your age, balance can always be improved. Even those without a balance disorder can suffer from balance-related injuries. Below is a quick exercise to try; the results will tell you if you should consult a PT. Be sure to have a sturdy surface to grasp onto if you become unstable.

1. Start by standing with your feet close together.
2. Lift one leg off the ground and see if you can hold for 30 seconds.
3. Switch legs and try again.

Every year, thousands of people — especially children — end up in the ER due to firework-related injuries. As healthcare providers, we've seen firsthand how quickly celebrations can turn into emergencies.

Before you celebrate, remember:

🚫 Never let young children handle fireworks
👀 Always wear eye protection
💦 Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby
📦 Don’t relight duds — soak them and toss safely
📍 Light one firework at a time and move back quickly

🎇 Prefer a safer option? Attend a public fireworks show and leave the explosions to the professionals.
