Seacoast Prosthetics is the only O&P provider within 25 miles of Portsmouth, NH that has practitioners certified to provide both C-Leg and Genium Microprocessor artificial knees as well as Myobock and I-Limb myo-electric artificial arm technology. Seacoast Prosthetics is also certified to provide the Orthomerica Cranial Remolding Helmet (Starband Orthosis) for plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly in infants using digital scanning CAD/CAM technology. Come see the difference when Cutting Edge Technology is combined with Superior Patient Care.

Success ! SB177 is signed now into law, expanding insurance coverage to include activity-specific prosthetics for children under the age of 19. Providing for an inclusive and healthy lifestyle for all NH children .

We did it! With the help of Senator Sue Prentiss, NH District 5, SB 455, which increases the Medicaid reimbursements for prosthetics and orthotics has been signed into law.

It has been a long journey to get SB 455 passed, in fact, we began reaching out to state officals in 2020 regarding our concerns about New Hampshire Medicaid and it's Managed Care Organizations (NH Healthy Families, Wellsense, Amerihealth), and the impact low payments to providers will have on our most vulnerable community members. We did not give up, and we are very thankful to Sen. Prentiss as well as Senator Rebecca Perkins Kwoka for listening, learning about our facility, and appreciating our commitment to the community.

Happy June! We had a busy month last month and here's the recap!

SB 455, a bill pertaining to reimbursements of NH Medicaid sponsored by Senator Sue Prentiss, NH District 5 was adopted! Our office began in January advocating for better reimbursements for our Medicaid patients, which will allow us to better serve our community. Life is moving, and it should be moving for everyone! Thank you to the State of NH for understanding our impact on our community!

SB 177, So Every Kid Can Move legislation was adopted! This will ensure coverage for anyone under the age of 19 to have access to activity specific orthotic and prosthetic devices, also sponsored by Sen. Sue Prentiss.

The fight for better care for our patients is far from over, but these legislative changes in our state are a great start.

Right now, thousands of children in New Hampshire living with limb loss and limb difference are unable to access activity-specific prosthetic care due to a lack of insurance coverage, forcing families to incur prohibitive out-of-pocket costs to allow their child to play, participate in sports, and socialize.

SB 177, introduced by Senator Sue Prentiss, NH District 5, seeks to address this pressing policy challenge by ensuring that commercial health plans in the state cover activity-specific prostheses for enrollees 18 years old and younger.

Please consider clicking the link below to write to our local representatives how important prosthetic care is.

On March 19th, 2024, the Senate introduced the Medicare O&P (Orthotic & Prosthetics) Patient-Centered Care Act (S.3977).
This bipartisan legislation will improve access to timely, quality orthotic and prosthetic care while simultaneously combatting fraud, waste, and abuse in the Medicare program by:

🔹Prohibiting drop-shipping of custom O&P devices
🔹Exempting O&P practitioners from requiring a competitive bidding license to provide-off-the-shelf (OTS) orthoses
🔹Removing the Reasonable Useful Lifetime (RUL) restrictions from custom orthoses.

Appropriate O&P care can mean the difference between a functional, active lifestyle and a life of disability, dependency, and a shortened lifespan. Please take a few minutes to click the link and fill out a form to automatically email your Senator and tell them you support S. 3977!
