GateWay is a beautiful center for learning and practicing taiji (tai chi), qigong (chi kung), yoga, meditation and the martial arts located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. What connects all of our classes is a focus on energy and mindfulness. You'll never find anyone here with headphones on!
Taiji: We offer a full range of Taiji classes for both beginner and advanced students, as well as Taiji for Balance. As opposed to western style exercise, which focuses on major muscle groups, Taiji is focused on strengthening the joints, ligaments and tendons, emphasizing softness and whole-body motion. Practicing Taiji enhances balance, circulation, body awareness and memory.
Qigong: Qigong (Chi Kung) comes from acupuncture and has been practiced for thousands of years. Qigong, literally translated, means “energy work.” Qi (Chi) is the Chinese word for energy. Through the practice of Qigong, you can learn to develop and channel your qi for medical, martial and spiritual purposes. We offer a wide variety of both internal and physical qigong practices.
Yoga: We offer both gentle and all-levels Yoga classes, as well as several specialty yoga classes, including YogaQi (a unique blend of yoga and qigong) and Yoga and Cancer. All of our experienced and welcoming instructors are RYT certified, and all emphasize mindfulness, coordinated breathing and safe body alignment.
