"Popcorn" by Frank Asch was always one of Dr. Alvarez' favorite books growing up. We still have his childhood copy in our house that we read to our kids.

One Halloween night Sam invites all his friends to his house for a costume party while his parents are away. Everyone brings popcorn and soon enough the house is overflowing with tasty popcorn. What will they do?

Nostalgic childhood memories connect this timeless book to the present-Plover hosting popcorn at Cabin John movie nights with our community!

Happy Mother’s Day to our Plover Moms! From our heart to you. Our whole team came together to create a mini care package for our superhero mommies! You are seen and appreciated! We see you taking your meeting calls and bringing your kids in for their dental appointments, we see you dashing off for pick ups, we see you volunteering your time with our local PTAs and community organizations, we see you moms who are working 24-7 as stay at home moms, doing the doctors appointments, making the doctors appointments, and juggling it ALL! Thanks so much for your commitment to whole child health-dental and whole body! We know it takes a village and happy to be part of yours!!

Why what we do what makes us happy.

We received an email from one of our families who moved away today and so very moved by the caring message we received. Maybe a tear was shed too.

Our relationships with our patients and families are why we do what we do. Truly engaging with our community and patients are so meaningful, fulfilling, and uplifting to us and our team at Plover!

There’s actually a great book called “More Chocolate, No Cavities” written by pediatric dentist with real practical tips for parents. Being parents of a 4 and 1 year old, we opt for chocolate not crackers! Here’s our little loving her chocolatey treat basking in some springtime fun!

We learned and shared so much from our lunch with Dr. Sharon Huang PhD who is a child psychologist and school psychologist. We talked about Executive Functions which are the mental skills that help us get things done like toothbrushing or dental appointments. We really better understood the role executive skills play in healthy development to help kids become self reliant adults. Doing homework, getting ready for school in the morning, time management-there are so many life skills that children are developing and we're here to support children and families and meeting passionate specialists help enrich our knowledge and understanding. We welcome Dr. Sharon Huang to the local Cabin John community who opened her doors to Harmony Psychological Services. Thank you so much for introducing us some great reads about executive function from Peg Dawson "Smart but Scattered Kids." As parents and pediatric providers, we really loved learning more about child development and executive function skills which are big passions of Dr. Kim and Dr. Alvarez.

Can you brush more than twice a day? My sister had eight teeth fall out. Does everyone have the same size tongue? What is plaque?

The questions were many from these curious and wise kids who shared many stories with me about their own tooth fairies and dental experiences!

We had a wonderful time with the Green Acres School and presenting about foods that cause cavities!

We played this fun food matching game with the happy and sad molar tooth, had a very lively discussion and played with dental tools and puppets.

Your insights, questions, and stories kindergarteners were remarkably insightful and open and we had a great time!

Thanks to Trish for inviting me for the third year to your classroom. This is what energizes us-time around our growing friends in the local communities!

We recently had our local brownie troop visit our office and learn from Dr. Kim all about being a dentist! We got to show the Behind-the-Scenes of a pediatric dental office. Our office is all about supporting women in STEM, and we loved introducing a very important STEM field to our bright troop!

Plover’s second holiday party! Our fearless and kind leader Dr Alvarez drove 4 hours roundtrip to get the freshest oysters for our Plover team. We shucked oysters and enjoyed lobster rolls, Dr Alvarez’ home baked hot chocolate cookies, Jisoo’s homemade salad, Kim’s juices, and making music with Christmas crackers. We learned our team is very dexterous at oyster shucking, but maybe not cut out for group band! Happy Holidays to all our wonderful team, the people who make Plover possible. We had a lot of fun and thanks to all our Plover families and thanks to all our dentist colleagues who sent holiday cards and gifts! We are in great company of community and team!
