Introducing a brand new, skin-soothing salve, safe for poultry, pets and people!

We created this salve with frostbitten combs, paws, and chapped hands in mind. It’s made with jojoba and fractionated coconut oil infused with Calendula flowers, Helichrysum flowers, Frankincense Sacra and Boswellic acid (a concentrated extract from Frankincense resin that has been shown in research to be helpful for irritated, troubled, or itchy skin). It also contains Nigella seed oil, which is also very helpful for skin irritation, and a low dilution of Lavender essential oil, safe for chickens, dogs, children and adults. Finally, we’ve added mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) to extend shelf life. The salve is in a base of organic beeswax and shea butter.

We have a small supply of 2 ounce and one ounce salves available. It’s a great alternative to petroleum- based balms!

This morning, we discovered our first chicken egg! It was cracked, and followed by two whole eggs we discovered later today.

I can’t think of a more auspicious time to find our first egg from our 11 beautiful young hens than New Year’s Day 💗

Interestingly, the egg symbolizes potential, rebirth, creation, and new life, representing infinite possibilities within a self-contained vessel, a cosmic universe in miniature. As an omen, a whole egg signifies upcoming blessings or potential, while a cracked or opened egg suggests the blessing is present or a project is beginning. Its symbolism ties to fertility, the cycle of life (birth/rebirth), and the dawn of new beginnings in cultures worldwide, from Spring Equinox rituals to creation myths.

We’ve dressed up our candles a bit with some heat transfer designs! I also did a test burn to be sure the transfers would not be affected by the heat from the candles themselves. I’m so excited to make the plain glass jars look a bit fancy!

While you should not refill empty candles jars and re-burn (the glass weakens over time and is not designed for repeated filling), you CAN reuse these jars a pencil holders or in other decorative ways.

We also poured several new scents this weekend… Mango Sorbet, Vanilla Cashmere, and Lavender & Camilla, as well as more Windsong Balsam Pine which is consistently popular.

Candles are wonderful to keep on hand during those long winter months (when you never know if the power will go out!) we discount our candles based on how many you buy: it’s a great time to buy two or three to stock up!

Don’t see a scent you like? Let me know your preferences, and I’ll see if I can create it! I can also do custom pours with different scent strengths. I generally pour at about 8%, which has decent “throw” of scent without being overpowering. I do have some softer scents on hand. If you like a stronger scent, I can go up to 9-10%. I can also do unscented or only naturally scented if you would prefer.

Two fun new candles!

Bennett wanted to help me make candles today. The light brown is Oud & Wood; the green is To***co & Amber.

Each has a cute little beeswax embed for decoration. This is our first experiment with wax embeds… we may try some with color soon!

Bennett gets $1 from the sale of every embedded candle as my artistic advisor 😉 He also lets me know which candles have good scent throw and which scents he likes. It’s good to get an unbiased opinion! (Trust me, he can be blunt 😂).

A very special Magnesium Oil spray…

You may have heard that many of us are deficient in magnesium. If you are suffering from fatigue, difficulty sleeping, muscle pain and cramps, or headaches, you may want to speak to your doctor about having your magnesium levels measured.

Magnesium (Mg) is a mineral that is essential for healthy muscles, nerves, bones and blood sugar levels.

Additionally, many people don’t absorb magnesium well when it’s consumed in a supplement or food. Foods highest in magnesium include almonds, peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, black and kidney beans, soybeans, white potatoes, and brown rice. But what do you do when your diet is on point and you still have low levels of magnesium?

Topical magnesium is another option. There is some research which suggests the topical form of magnesium citrate may be better absorbed for some people. Magnesium oil sprays have become quite popular as a result. In fact, magnesium oil is very simple to make, combining magnesium flakes with hot distilled water.

Our magnesium spray is “leveled up” from your typical magnesium oil because of our added botanical ingredients. We added helichrysum, German chamomile, and lavender flower hydrosols (an aromatic water), as well as a touch of beautiful, organic lavender essential oil. The hydrosols and essential oil are known for their skin benefits, as well as being calming to the anxious or busy mind.

Additionally, magnesium oil itself has benefits for some skin conditions, particularly dry or irritated winter skin.

I’ve properly formulated this so that there is no need to shake it before spaying, and it will have a shelf life of at least a year.
